X300 won't start

I just bought a used JD X300 (2009 Model with 81 hours) and mowed for the first time today. It started up just fine. I mowed for about 45 minutes, turned off the mower to talk to a neighbor, then tried to start it up. It will not do anything. No clicking or turning over...completely dead. Any suggestions/ideas?

Welcome to TBN, bubba8cake. If it was my X300R - I'd be checkin' the battery cable connections.

Workin' the tractor, bouncin' and jumpin' - might've loosened one or both up.

If not the battery cables; check to see if the pressure switch on the bottom of the seat has worked loose.

First ensure you are following the normal starting procedures. Sitting on seat, mower PTO off, foot on brake pedal. If that doesn't work, start checking other possible problems, like stated above. Loose battery cable, safety switches, etc. Good luck and let us know what you found out.

There is a shut off switch on the rear of the mower, bottom near center. If this gets pushed in accidentally, it will behave exactly as you're describing. It is a sort of wire loop and if you back into something gently, this can engage and you won't know it. Check and pull out, if it's in. I learned this here and maybe it's your issue, too.

it turned out I had the PTO engaged. I got it to work a couple more times now the engine turns over but will not start. I replaced the plugs and checked the battery cables and safety switches. It still will not start. I had a friend help me check the spark plugs and it appears there is no spark. Not sure what to do now.
