Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and an also in the market for a tractor and hope to buy in the next month or so. I'm looking for a machine in the 40-50 hp range and I played with a 1643 about a month ago at the nearest dealer (about 40 miles). I've been lurking here on the site for a few days and have read all the reviews of the brands I'm looking at. New Holland, Mahindra and Massey Ferguson are my main focuses currently. So, the main question is this:

Would you buy Massey again?

Thanks in advance

The 1643 is a compact and I have never had any dealings with a compact. But the service we have had from our other tractors from Massey have been second to none. We have a 135 with over 6000 hours and other than normal service and wear items have spent less than 500.00 on it over the course of the years and it is still going strong. Have had 285, 1135, 255, currently have a 5455 but this is not the older Ferguson System tractor, only had it for 4 years so the jury is still out on this one. As for me if I was looking at a forty horsepower tractor I like the 2600 series better than the compacts as they are more simple and built heavier without so many bells and whistles. But everybodies situation is different and the compact may suit your needs a lot better. I am a confirmed Massey Man but in your area I would go with what I could get the best dealer service from because no matter how good a piece of equipment is it will sooner or later need repair and if the parts or service are not there in a timely manner you will be disgusted with your purchase.

Bought a 1635 (same tractor, just 3 cyl.) Powershuttle 2 years ago now, and would buy another in a second.

Has not let us down, does everything we ask, with lots to spare.

Bought a 1643 cab with PS a little over a year ago. No regrets. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Had a 1240 prior, that was such a good tractor and primary reason that I stayed with MF and bought the 1643.

Massey owner here too, I can't even think of regreating my purchases of a 06'
massey 1528, broke it many times, not the tractors falt mainly my own stupidity. it did much more than it should have. Now a owner of a 1643 and can't brag on it enough, great power and has more than to spare, with the 12 x 12 power shuttle, choosing the right gear and going to work with it, is pleasent work, or should I say pleasent play ? it's not that the others aren't as good, but like my red choice better. besides red fits in with everything.:cool2:
green and yellow make me think of a pimp on a chicago street corner, and orange looks more like pumpkin cammo if your in a pumpkin patch.
I wrote this part so I could stir the pot, and smiling as i do:shocked::dance1:
But I love my neighbors too.

Bought a used 2005 1533 and currently have 415 hours on it. No problems so far except for things we've done to it. I love it.
