I've been using a hook all these years.

Thinking abut picking up a pickaroon.

Anyone have comments?

Pick a roon is handy-you have more reach.

TONGS!
I love my pickaroon but for me, tongs are faster and easier in 90% of uses if theyll fit around the log/tree.

Boy, I can't imagine tongs while working at the splitter.
How do you pick up a once split piece, and pull it back to the splitting ram ?

I can see it for hoisting one handed rounds though.
I keep the hook "sharpened" to hold onto most anything i can do one handed

I was going to use a pickaroon but a fella at work convinced me to use a set of tongs, glad he did. I've got a long set 1 in. Long Handle Log Tongs | Princess Auto and they're great. Only thing they have a problem with is small, smooth logs other than that I'd be lost without them.

My wedge moves and I've got trays on either side so I don't have to pick up many splits, just the occasional one that falls off.....Mike

Pickeroon hands down. drag stuff, roll rounds, pick up splits. They are also known as "third hands" for a good reason. Yes the pulp hook does have it's uses but it is basically a one purpose tool, not as versatile as pickeroon. Tongs? I haven't used one but they look very awkward compared to either pick or pulp.

I have an outfeed table... Well had, untill I converted my splitter into a processor. For me, splits never touched the ground (usually) and were always within arms reach after the wedge once split. Moving trees and rounds before splitting was what was important to me. I never used either my pickaroon or tongs to move actual splits.
