Has anyone tired Redwing Irish Setter 11" pull ons, 83906 83906 11-inch Pull-On - Irish Setter Work

I wear a size 14, so I'm about 90% sure no one local will have any in stock to try; so if I get them, I'll be ordering most likely. I've had Justins (without steel toe), Wolverine (with and with out steel toe), Ariat (steel toe), and McRae (steel toe, Do Not buy...). I've been told Redwing is one of the best, without going too crazy expensive, but $170 is still a Lot of money in my book.

As a note, I wear my boots pretty much 100% of the time, I don't even own "shoes",

Edit: I'm suppose to wear steel toe at work, and they may pay a part of the bill (upto $65), but I'm not sure; I'm a strange job description, I'm 95% field work, but not classified the same as all the other field guys.

Make sure you pay attention to the description of how the boot was made/assembled. I like my red wings but try and buy American made and not american assembled. Your going to pay through the nose for them but they are better. Also, welcome to the world of big feet. I have 14 EE and trying to find boots to try on just doesn't happen. Most stores will order in boots for you if you are serious about buying, just prepared to drop the cash when they come in if they fit right. As to the irish setter, I have never had a pair of them sorry.

I'm at the other end of the foot scale, i.e. 8EE. I just bought a pr of Danner "Rampart TFX" 11 inch pull ons @$190....plain toe. Danner makes good stuff here in USA, but this boot is not USA. So far I'm happy with the service and the boot. I have another lace up 11 inch USA boot from them that is quality. I use it for dress up.:)

Talked to the boss; they'll pay upto $65 towards a pair. He jokingly said that should buy half a pair.

I'm going to swing by the local Redwing store this afternoon maybe and check what they have. Pretty sure I'll have to order; and if that's the case, will probably do Amazon or Ebay.

It's hard to find a steel or safety toe that is good enough to wear all day, and walk miles in.

I haven't used Redwing boots in a couple of decades but they used to be good boots. I liked the Irish Setter style and color but they always seemed to stretch out with age and get at least a size larger so they slipped up and down on my feet unless I went to a really heavy sock. In order to make them fit better with age, you had to get them a bit tight in the beginning which didn't work so well with foot comfort till they got broken in. One pair, I wore the soles out before they actually got broken in. Back then you could get a good crepe re-sole for about $25 and the Redwings would last thru about 4 re-soles.
I quit wearing them when I started doing mostly office work, so I cant attest to todays quality.

The toes are what give me the most trouble. They feel like the end of the steel toe bows inwards and squeezes my foot right at the ball, but I must have a narrow heel because it always feels loose. It would be nice if you could get fitted boots that didn't cost a grand! The online route may be the way to go if your not in a hurry, just make sure they have a good return policy!

Found on Ebay, buy out was $141 i think. Red Wing Leather Boot 1105, Size 14EE, ACCEPTING REASONABLE OFFERS

I actually about half jokingly offered $73. Not exactly what I wanted, and I may still need to get steel toed ones, but not a bad deal. Probably stolen... but he accept the offer. $12 shipping and $73 for the boots, so we will see how they do.

A Kitchen Aid Stand mixer on my fell on right foot (hitting between big toe and next toe over) the week before Thanksgiving in 2008 (most expensive fruit cake I ever made). I have had to have 3 surgeries on that foot and wear customer insoles. I have developed a great appreciation for the importance of properly fitting shoes.

I do not have to wear steel toes for work (most of the time), but do wear them around the property. For me, I have found Red Wings to be the most comfortable (your mileage may vary), but I also go to the Red Wing Store and not just a general store that happens to carry them.

It amazes me to hear people wearing a pair of boots for more than 2-3 years. I hope there that good. I'll try to remember to report back after I get them
