not even close? if you really want to get into the details - we can. I work in this industry...
your "85% Domestic Content" comment about GM vehicles is incorrect. You meant to say 85% Domestic Assembly perhaps? Check into the definitions of "Domestic Content" which, thanks to lobbyists, is continually being pushed. Duramax blocks & heads are cast overseas, not here. The best you'll get for "domestic" content is assembly. Not the parts. There are almost no foundries left here for the automotive industry...
Also, what does it matter? GM was one of the largest money losers this year with a THIRTY EIGHT BILLION DOLLAR LOSS. I do not understand what it matters when the General won't be Domestically owned for much longer (at this rate).
I'm not Anti-American, but I am anti-BS. This is a Global economy, the concept that "money goes overseas and doesn't come back" is quite ignorant if you ask me... people expect to get what they pay for and when it comes to domestic labor, the people paying the bills apparently have voted already.
I hear the "sing song whiny voice" but the fact is, the imperialist, racist attitude that says we shouldn't do business with other countries who are more competitive than us, is the same redneck attitude that got us into this situation in the first place!! at some point, we need to take responsibility for our own actions... yes/no?
rant mode off.
