I have a Woods 9000BH (or BH9000, whatever) Groundbreaker backhoe. The lower swing pin on the boom is up about 1/8" or so from where it should be (was that way when I got it), and I can't move it back down.

The zerk fitting on that pin is crushed, either by the previous owner bashing it while trying to re-seat the pin, or by the swing piston mashing it. It has a two-cylinder swing, and there is no longer enough clearance for an intact zerk fitting below the swing piston shaft. I was able to get grease into the pin by replacing the mashed zerk with a good one, then I had to put the mashed one back in for clearance. PITA.

The pins are #12 in the 'swing pivot' drawing. The pins and zerks on top can be seen in the 'swing pivot 2' photograph.

I have no idea what I can use to press this pin the rest of the way in. Suggestions?

Cay you get a C clamp around the pin. You can exert a lot of pressure with a threaded clamp. If not a pair of them and a couple of pieces of metal to bridge the pin may work.

I'd have to use two and build some kind of jig, but that might work, although I suspect that I'll need more pressure that a couple of c-clamps can generate. I'll probably give it a try though - thanks for the suggestion.

You'll need to get the pressure off the pins as well. If the Clamps won't do it alone then add some persuasion with a block and hammer. Then retighten the clamps and repeat.

If I remember right there is a clip that is supposed to keep them from moving.
Sounds like it may be missing, would have to look at mine.
