Woodchippers?

No Problem...just passing on first hand experience at half the price. To me, minor maintenance with simple tools and local NAPA parts is worth half the initial investment. I agree it may not be for everyone.

I also have the DR chipper. It will take a 4 1/2 inch limb. I only have about 18 PTO horsepower and it runs the chipper fine most of the time unless I max it out with some hardwood, then I need to stop and continue slowly feeding it and let the RPM's build back up. I think the DR was a great purchase. But mine just blows the chips onto the ground next to the chipper, so I always have a pitchfork to move the pile out of the way. And I always have a small chainsaw to prune up the limbs so that they will fit into the chute.

Here is mine runs on a Ford V8 16" drum size.

Pretty much east anything that fits in it. Whole trees are are eaten - it simply busts the branches as it devours the trunk.

Paid $800 for it at a consignment lot.

I agree. They only offer the chipper/shredder with bottom dumping the chips. I keep a rake handy but have bent up many rakes trying to keep the chips clear. ON the shredder it's not even to the side, it's underneath, quite a pain.
