Milwaukee area. I need a low priced splitter. I know it's off topic but thought I'd try

I just sold one, $450. It was horizontal only but I liked it because it was fairly light and handy.

I bought this one used from someone that lives a short distance from my house, I paid $850 for it. I found a receipt with the owners manual and he paid $1100 tax and all for it a few years ago on sale. They seem like they are now priced around $1500 to $1600 now.

I see electric ones that are pretty cheap but they never floated my boat. Keep your eyes peeled for a used one is my best advice. It took me several years before I spotted the one I just bought.

It depends on how much you want to split. I paid about $270 for an electric splitter and I’ve used it for 5 years now. I’m not in a hurry though and I only split wood for outdoor fires or just to get it to easily burnable chunks. I split about a pickup truck load each year.
