wood chute

Anyone ever try building what I would call a "wood chute bucket" for their fel?
Something that allows you to pitch (not stack) in your splits into this "bucket" and then simply walk the tractor over to your dump site and unload the wood with a touch of the joystick, into narrow confines with your "chute".

I've used the bucket to transport split firewood. I stacked it in the bucket. Otherwise - pitching it in the bucket equals too small a load. You may be looking for a type of "super large bucket" made of angle iron and expanded metal. OR angle iron and heavy duty chicken wire.

No. I need something "narrow". The bucket is too wide for the opening of 42" I have to dump the wood in (bulkhead).

Not looking to scoop wood but thank you for the link.
Looking to dump wood into a narrow opening.
Gonna have to invent something it looks like.

I think the wood will constantly "log jam" when it gets to the narrow part of the bucket. But maybe if you shake it enough while pouring...

Ratchet strap milk crates or some other spacers to your bucket for testing purposes before investing to many $$$ on project

Just get a section of roller conveyor put some short sides 2 inches high on it and a taller 3 foot side to dump against..

It doesn't hold much, but I've used my stump bucket to 'pour' (rocks) into a small opening.

The local sawmill has a narrow and deep bucket on a decent size loader for loading pickup trucks with mulch. It’s a 3.5 yard bucket that’s only like 5’ wide. I’d say you’d have better luck with something that that vs trying to dump wood through a funnel.

Might prototype on your current bucket with some plywood to see what might work. Couple of steel, plastic or plywood pallets boxed together? A tote cutout to front dump? Might weld some bottom or bolt some lips on bottom of a tote to fit at angle across the top and bottom of a bucket and strap down. Just guessing at your application. Doesn’t need to be heavy just to transport wood.

Take a 55 gallon drum.
Remove the top.
Split it down the long side.
Separate one side of the side from the split 1/4 way around the bottom.
Repeat on the other side.
Open it up and now you have a U-shaped bucket.
Brace up the bottom end with the removed lid metal. Cut the lid in half to give you a straight edge for the top of the U.
Brace it with some straps or angle iron.
Ratchet strap it into your existing bucket when needed.

I made a chute for my one ton so I could transfer gravel into my dump trailer. It might give you some ideas ?? It is held on by the trail gate chains.

Your 1 ton bed floor has had an easier life than mine.

Every little bit helps solidify the unclear.
Gonna apply several of the notions here to come up w one solution. (The plywood, steel barrel, dump truck wings, stump bucket, concrete bucket)
One thing I DO NOT want to do is have to strap, chain or buckle this thing onto the bucket.
I wanna be able to wisk it on and off.
I'm sure it'll take a couple hrs to rig up and then 6 more to iron out the kinks.
I'll make it 100 times tonight while in bed.

No straps or buckles.......... That leaves bolts, pins, or weld, or make a whole new stile quick attach bucket.

Clamp the fixture in position. Get four lifting eyes (https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/73155038, 1/2"-13 threaded shank 1 1/2" long, 2,400 load load capacity, 1 3/16" eye ID) Use backing plates when bolting on. (ever install marine hardware? )

We did this to add a ~2yd wooden wood hopper to a 1/3 yd FEL. It always went on & off easily & I'm now glad it didn't need an unloading chute. btw, it lasted 4 yrs before being crashed into a tree and subsequently campfired.

Well I finished it. Tried it out couple times.
Had to use sheet metal to cover plywood as wood wasn't sliding out as good as I wanted.
Then I tefloned the sheet metal and now it's good and slippery.

Screwed up the bar placement at first trying to slide through 4x4's. This created binding of the bucket enough to stop a full dump action.
Had to build brackets so as to create a more outer anchor point.

It holds about 3-5 days of wood depending on outside temps. 2.5 days if 30 or below. 30" wide by 48" long.

This was so simple it's stupid but it came together with ALL of your suggestions so thanks.

Thanks for the follow up. Glad it works. How do you Teflon? UHMW sheet is slick, cold tolerant and used in material handling.

Looks good, car wax will work to if you run out of teflon....
