My wife had to fill up this morning and said it went up 10 cents a gallon on regular diesel since yesterday. Go figure that one.

I just saw on the news where congress instead of a fuel tax holiday wants to increase fuel tax on gasoline by 10 cents and even more on diesel. That is just insane.

This goes back to the cause of the problem. Those in charge of congress don't have a clue of what they are doing, or the damage they are causing. To raise the price of fuel so they can be more wasteful then they already are is just more proof of how bad it really is.

snopes.com: Al Gore's Energy Use

nate_m said:
I found the following article interesting. It certainly supports the idea that politicians are often more concerned with there own agenda than the issues they preach.

Al Gore痴 Personal Electricity Consumption Up 10% Despite 摘energy-Efficient Renovations
Energy guzzled by Al Goreç—´ home in past year could power 232 U.S. homes for a month

<STRONG>NASHVILLE æ?u00A7/STRONG> In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President—´ home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

é„* manç—´ commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home, said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. é„*l Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.

In the past year, Gore—´ home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

In February 2007, An Inconvenient Truth, a film based on a climate change speech developed by Gore, won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. The next day, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research uncovered that Gore—´ Nashville home guzzled 20 times more electricity than the average American household.

After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore—´ massive home energy use, the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the homeç—´ windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the å*µreen overhaul.

Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month 1,638 kWh more energy per month than the year before the renovations. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration. The cost of Gore—´ electric bills over the past year topped $16,533.

In the wake of becoming the most well-known global warming alarmist, Gore—´ film won an Oscar, and he won a Grammy and the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, Gore saw his personal wealth increase by an estimated $100 million thanks largely to speaking fees and investments related to global warming hysteria.

é„*ctions speak louder than words, and Gore—´ actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity, Johnson said. 敵ore is exploiting the publicç—´ concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a Nashville-based free market think tank and watchdog organization, obtained information about Gore—´ home energy use through a public records request to the Nashville Electric Service.

China's Population: 1,321,851,888 (July 2007 est.)
India's Population: 1,129,866,154 (July 2007 est.)

These are just two of the emerging industrial country. Each person in those countries would like to have 2 SUVs in the driveway, 2 tractors out back, an ATV, a power boat, snowmoblile, flush toilets and all the other ameneties we have come to take for granted. Any idea how they can do that without impacting us?

Canada's Population: 33,390,141 (July 2007 est.)
USA's Population: 301,139,947 (July 2007 est.)

With all due respect, it drives me nuts when people compare the price here with Europe and say how good we have it. The price of the petroleum is comparable......... the reason its twice as much is the TAX they pay on it. Its just that ours isn't taxed anywhere near as much........ YET.

I pay 1.40 Euro for a liter of Diesel....
Some gas stations are showing a text near the cashier, saying "70% of what you pay here, goes to the state, not to us !!"
When i asked them about it, they said they did that to prevent that consumers aimed their anger at the gas station people.....

about that Al Gore:

It's all his fault, why did he ever invent Global Warming !!! :D

I always kept my loader on 100% of the time. But with $4.79 diesel I'm wondering if I would save enough $$ to remove it.
On average I finish cut 6 acres per week in summer and 9 acres in the wet season.
I have a L-5240 cab and throw a 6' finish mower.
Thanks

There is no shortage of oil, and there is no reason for people to say that we're running out. This empty cry has been going on for 40 years, and we know of more oil today then we knew of back then.

I have read that too, Eddie: Geologists have located more volumes of oil, than we knew existed at the time of the oil crises.

Because you guys pay about half of what we pay, i assume there isnt as much tax on fuels as in Europe: But still, the government, and the oil producing companies and countries get rich, while the pump owner in the street, is struggling to survive.

i agree with you 100%

p.s. Al Gore is making political profit out of the doomthinking most people are sensitive to...

Are we really able to save the planet ?
Only 3% of the worldwide Co2 emission is caused by human activity, the rest is all natural !!!
Off course my opinion is politically incorrect, and they will call me a heretic !!! :D
But i dont fear their Spanish inquisition !!! ;)

Where is Michael Moore now, to make a documentary about this ??
OOOoow, is Michael moore NOT a neutral journalist ? ..but just pursueing to uncover a (the) truth that supports his political point of view!!! :D

There's a good article on World Net Daily today. Its about one of the members of Congress of the majority party admitting that the intention is to keep fuel prices high to force us off petroleum. ............

........... you know they don't care for all of us tractor nuts out every chance we get mowing, moving dirt, rocks and everything we can think of to get seat time.

The politicians carry this subject away. In that way they pursue the same thing as us : seat time !!! only not sky leather tractor seats, but pluche office seats ;)
