BX 2200
HAVE A BX 2200. WHERE AND WHAT IS THE BEST PLACE TO GET POWER AND PUT A SWITCH? DOES THE LINE NEED TO BE FUSED? THE PUMP ON THE SPRAYER SAYS 7 AMP. WHAT SIZE FUSE DO YOU USE IF NEEDED? PLEASE ADVISE, AND SEND POTOS IF POSSIBLE.

A fuse in the line should be placed as close to the sprayer as possible to protect the wire itself, not necessarily the sprayer.

If the sprayer draws 7amps you'd need a fuse larger than that, maybe 10-15 amps.

Again, I don't think you need to proect the sprayer, just the wire in case of a short etc.

I always place the fuse as close to the positve battery lead as possible (on a negative ground tractor) to prevent arcing in the event the wire is cut or wears through. Using wire wraps looks nicer and helps prevent this problem. Use heavy enough wire to handle the current draw until the fuse blows in the event the sprayer pump shorts out.

I just did this exact thing about 3 weeks ago. I mounted a toggle switch to the left of the existing switches. Ran wire to battery and inline fuse then routed wire underneath frame (following some existing wire) to rear of tractor.

Look at your pump carefully, it might tell you what size fuse to use. Mine is a Shurflo pump and it gave the fuse size right on the pump casing.

As njrqs mentioned, using caps is considered yelling, no need to shout, TBN is a great place to get advice.

As for the sprayer, since I spray during the daytime /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif I unplug my rear light and use that connection for the sprayer. Works fine for me and I place a switch in the line to control the sprayer. The aux light wires for the BX are under the seat. Do a search on BX lighting and you'll find numerous references to these connections (keyed power and ground).

I'll probably run its own wire, fuse and connector from the battery when I get some free time that SWMBO hasn't accounted for /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

My sprayer is wired directly to the battery, with a fuse close to the positive terminal (negative ground / frame). You want to make sure that if the motor shorts or the wire gets worn through that the fuse blows and that your tractor doesn't become a big nasty arc. Trust me - you do not want to short out the battery.

The idea of wiring up a switch is also a good one - just a bit more work. You might also consider using the extra lighting circuit that most Kubotas have right under the seat. It is already fused.

I had a 50/50 chance of telling you the wrong end and you guessed it !!!!!!!!!!

Yes you are quite correct, any short in the wire along its length must blow the fuse, so the fuse HAS to be at the start of the wire. (Not the end like dumbo here said !)

I must stop responding to TBN late at night.

Sorry,
Was unaware of the cap thing. Was not tring to be disrespectful in any way.

Checked under the seat of my BX2200 and found the wires descriped. There are three, two hot and one ground. What if any, is the differents in the two hot wires? Are they both fused? Why are some people running wires to the battery if these are already available and fused?

Again, sorry for the cap thing.

I don't recall the color coding for the wires (blu/wht hot, blk gnd is my guess) but if you do a search it has been posted before. Otherwise I can check for you. The correct hot wire is off the key and fused. It is there for the rear worklight option (most install their own). The third wire I seem to recall (don't quote me) being for a hydro temp sensor that either we don't get here in N.A. or Kubota didn't make available. Again I'll have to check my notes.

Any additional info would be great. The wire colors are red blue and black. I think both are key controlled. Hydro sensor? Are there any of these available? and where?
