They are predicting a snowy one for us in the Buffalo NY region. Other than wood, coal, oil, what do you all stock up on, or do to get ready for the hardships of winter?

Every winter in Buffalo borders on disaster from my mid Atlantic point of view.
My preparedness mostly surrounds fuel and equipment. I have my diesel fuel winterized by mid November, and storage topped off.

A oil change on the tractor and everything else that will be store for the winter, along with fuel stabilizer in all gas tank, piking up everything that is laying around, at one point Ill hock up the snow blower and the snow blade, I have to winterize the camper as well... from the bears activity I think it's going to be a harsh one and that's what they are predicting as well... we already got snow this week (no accumulation but we had snow precipitation) it will come quick and I am far from being ready.

Most of this has already been posted but here's the condensed version:

1 - Retired the coal stove and replaced the aging oil furnace.
2 - Installed a whole house 11K Diesel generator.

3 - topped off the 1000 gal fuel oil tank for heat & to fuel generator & tractors.
4 - replaced the 25 year old ductless A/C with new heat pump ductless heat & A/C units for backup heating.
5 - Had 23 tons of anti skid delivered to replace the coal ash I used to spread on the road.
6 - bought a self loading 3pt spreader to spread it.

7 - Currently building a storage "bin" for the anti skid to make it easier to load the spreader.

It's been a busy end of summer.

Our house is generally always ready for either winter or summer. Generator is always ready since MI infrastructure sucks.

I'll put the snowblower on the tractor and plow on the sxs.

Vehicles are ready, just got to put the ice scrapers in them
