Ahhhhhhh.

My pellets are taking a beating, I buy 5 tons in the summer to offset electric base board heat, actually I turn all of the base board down to 50. I have about a ton left.. and hear like many other alternate heat sources are also in short supply. My home has been typically between 58 and 65 degrees all winter.... except on sunny days.

As an outside observer I've noticed that you NA Members put great stock in a rodent's shadow to determine your winter weather patterns.

Apparently these woodchucks have doomed you to 6 more weeks of winter, therefore;

Sacrifice ALL ground-squirrels and your dilemma should be solved, simple!

(He says from the hemisphere that's still in summer... :))

Its been a long winter this year and I'm getting rather tired of the cold and/or the snow.. not sure how much more I can take before I have to shed my skin!

Anyone else feeling a bit fed up?

Woke up to a mix of freezing rain and some sort of granular mix. Snow later. Whoopie.

I picked the last week of January to have my knee replacement operation!
So I spent the month of February depending on others to plow the snow and bring in the fire wood.
Prior to going to the hospital I had stacked two cords of wood on the front porch and last week we had to bring more wood over.

Times they are a changing and this morning When I got up it was 31 degrees.
We're getting more snow today, but the heaviest will be south of us.
We haven't had the deep cold, just constantly close to zero with high winds.
Looking forward to smelling the roses.....

On the plus side of this, daylight savings time snuck up on us. It starts this coming weekend, March 9th. So when it does warm up we can hit the ground running.

I heat with wood(big old Hearthstone soapastone stove in the basement) and I cut split and stack off our 100ac. I am down to about 1 week of wood but it has kept the house at 68+ all winter. 58-65 is too cold for us & anything under 67 or over 71 is uncomfortable in winter. Sounds like you should consider adding a new efficient epa wood stove to supplement your pellet set up. Something like a Blaze King can be real easy on the wood, yet still get 20+ hr burn times. Pop over to Hearth.com and do some reading...lot's of good info there on that forum.

Just spent three months in the Philippines got home yesterday. 85 or 90 degrees every day. 37 in Virginia when I got home. Calling for more snow and ice this week. If not having to return to fill federal and state taxes and wifes job, I would still be in the Philippines. Hate cold!

As a gardener, I like this idea. The only good chuck is a dead chuck! :)

Someone should have strangled that rodent!
We have sleet covered driveway with more on the way, and bitter cold(for us) temps tonight. And we are considered "southern" down here in Branson, Mo. Supposed to have wind chills down around -20F tonight. Brrrr...:muttering:

Yes... the rat must die! Our annual vintage snowmobile race was held in -15°F to -20°F weather this weekend. Even the hardcore winter sports fanatics were complaining about numb fingers and toes.

Come on spring!

Temperatures are supposed to get to 14 below tomorrow morning where I live in Iowa. I must be reading the calendar wrong--this can't be March.

James Does your bass have Freezer burn like ours here. freeze the ice at night to thaw in the day time.

The church just cancelled the service awhile ago due to sleet falling with rain = ice.
