Winter is finally here.

I took a few divots out of the sod with my loader bucket the first time plowing this year.

Septic systems shouldn't freeze up if the pitch to the tank is right and the tank is pumped on a regular basis.
I had to install a mound system when we added our barn and a house addition. That DID freeze the first Christmas holiday after install because the site tech, who claimed he was an engineer, was actually an idiot. I had to redesign the tank(s) layout and move the in line pump closer to the mound at huge extra expense, and the state put a 3 year restriction on my land until I could prove the system was working per specs. It was an expensive nightmare, but also a very unusual glitch/worse case scenario.

BTW, I tried plowing the recent dump of snow, it was like concrete. Three died on Killington access road last week due to the storm and bad driving conditions.

I was clearing snow with the last 8" storm, but quit as the ground was too soft - not frozen. By the next storm it should be harder and I will get to the barn. I use my tractor bucket.

If you back blade with the bucket, that will help.

I've been 'out' 4 or 5 times (I don't keep track) so far this winter. I am expecting one of these days that the 60% chance of snow will turn into 100% chance of 2' of snow instead of these little PITA 2-3" dribbling s we are getting.

I can see your point long as there was weeks in between such snow dumpings.

I've plowed twice this year, and only because I wanted to make sure the tractor still worked after sitting for a month. I mowed leaves in December, for cryin out loud! I used to go ice fishing in early December. I'll be lucky if we get walkable ice by mid January. Still open water today, January 7th.

I guess you are just going have to launch your boat and cut a hole in the bottom to go fishing.
