GM just announced they are pushing back manufacturing and orders on the Silverado EV trucks for at least a year

Like I said, higher interest rates make only the best and most profitable project get undertaken by a company.

You can't do pie in the sky projects without cheap money...

Once again I did say resistance……

Along with, electric starting became mainstream in the late 20’s early 30’s?

Not sure what one millionaires wife has to do with the electric vehicle dominance of the early locomotion….
I should have been better making the connection.

Clara Ford resisted ICE auto’s driving her 1914 Electric into the 1930’s.

Henry Ford single handedly controlled an empire bringing cars to the masses with over 15,000,000 Model T’s sold worldwide from over 40 domestic factories and 17 foreign factories yet his wife choose a competitor’s all electric car when she could have had any car in the world or had one built… she went with Electric.

She appreciated the electric car’s ease of operation, cleanliness and being able to charge at home.

1919 is when Ford T’s with starters came out and it was backwards compatible so earlier production could be retro-fitted.

One size doesn’t fit all even if money is no object.

I do not hate EV, but I do not want my ballz to be twisted to force me to buy one…..
Exactly and I don't 'hate' them or anyone either. Having said that I don't need the idiots in DC trying to force feed me something they don't want either just because it's 'enviromentally friendly'...

And I really get tired of a certain poster on here constantly extolling the 'virtues' of EV's. Why I quit posting on his thread and I'd prefer he don't do that on this thread either. Nice as I can say that.

You seem to be unaware that 2 new giga factories have come online so they're able to meet their demand better and the lower prices has been planned all along by Elon Musk. He clearly stated this year and next he's willing to sell at cost as long as he can get both of the new factories running full tilt. His stated goal is to be selling 20 million Tesla's a year by the end of 2030 and beyond. When you buy your new Tesla that will be 1/2,000,000 of the effort. :)
Well, the likelihood of me buying a new Tesla (or any other make) is somewhere between slim and none. I don't buy new cars. Poor investment IMHO, and EVs in particular seem to not have much in the way of resale value.
Plus, Tesla only makes sedans, and I have no interest in a sedan. Their much hyped "truck" seems pretty useless IMHO.

Musk says a lot of things, I personally don't see the bright future in Tesla that you seem to. Maybe I'm wrong, I was once before. Time will tell.

Slim and none is a better chance that I will be getting one

I've only talked to one guy who had a Tesla, and he really did like it. I didn't get the impression it was a political statement or a green thing, he just liked the car. We did ask him about range, and I think he said 220 miles milking it, more like 180 driving like a normal person, AC on, ect, and he could recharge like 80 miles in 15 minutes on a rapid charger. Didn't sit in it, didn't interrogate him about reasons, and pretty much took it at face value, he liked it.

Kind of popular at work from Operating room techs to doctors and Mom's short residential street has several now... maybe why the 60 year old utility pole transformer blew?

Anyway, all these owners like them... none have said they have regrets even the Doc that bought many years ago because he figures free charging for life as part of that deal...

Here they also have privileges as single occupant carpool lane rights, preferred parking and many employers provide free charging.

Some are really into the tech and do rallys and trick them out...

The next few years should be telling as to whether electric equals throwaway like so many that buy new cell phones rather than pay for battery replacement???.

I don’t have an EV, but many friends have Teslas. Love them.

The cars can do lots of stuff.

If my driving was local and relatively short trips, I’d consider a Tesla.

I have Tesla stock (bought after the crash when musk bought Twitter). So, I could be biased.

When all is said and done, the UAW will all be able to find jobs in Japan!

Me 2. Glad I don't need a new vehicle, especially a truck. I feel for those who make a living with expensive equipment and or have a lot of input costs. Can't be easy right now.
You have your work cut out for yourself just trying to FIND a "work truck" especially with a work length bed (8').
Then it's still overpriced.

1000% correct. The vast majority of trucks are suburban luxury vehicles. Costing more than my parents house where we were raised.

My local dealer has 2 new regular cab F150s right now although I think they're 4wd and no price on the website.

Tesla surprised me. I figured all the electronics came from over seas and biased the part source content.

The rest I figured. Toyota and honda.

Iirc my wife's chrysler is Canadian and when we had a ford it was Mexican.

What I find interesting is, why would someone pay (finance) a new truck or car costing almost 100 grand when, unlike real estate, the purchase depreciates over time? I just don't get it but then being older, maybe I'm not in touch with the times.

Just looked out the window at my 1997 Ford F350 sitting in the drive and I think to myself, no payment due. It's soon to be headed into the garage for it's winter sleep.
