I've picked up a 48" as well. Nothing wrong with the welds or design. Would have liked the bottom to be more curved, but it's fine. Be hooking it up this week.

I've posted it before but it is worth repeating. $600 for one of these is a REALY good deal. Anyone sitting on the fence should take into account that there is nothing else on the market for less than $1000 and somebody at Wildkat is going to figure that out one of these days.

That's for sure. I don't see how they can buy the steel, do the cutting, and weld it up for that kind of money.

If they are really efficient with CNC cutting/design and a well run shop with non union welders it may well be profitable even at $600. What they may not be doing however is a competitive market analysis that would show them they could charge $900 and still be the cheapest option out there.

Hooked up the Wildkat grapple today with my WR Long quick atttach and it fits fine. No movement, no slop. I'll take pictures of the fitment in the next few days.

Worked for a few hours and it's agood strong unit. Cleaning up and area where I bulldozed out Scotch Pine Christmas trees hitting a few sheared off stumps. No bends, no cracks. I think in some ways it's overbuilt.

I think so, too. The grapple bottom/ bucket I bought from Wild Kat is made of thicker steel than my loader. Most of the grapple bucket is 1/2" steel, whereas the steel that makes up the Kubota SS QA members is either 1/4" or 5/16". I don't think there's even any 3/8" steel in it. Hopefully I don't end up breaking my loader with this thing.

Just an update:

I finally made it to the farm. THe 48" Wildkat weighs 370#'s. One minor issue. The pins for the JDQC are smaller dia. then JD uses on bucket. Not a real big deal except that I think it will allow for some play. Also the holes drilled in the pins are smaller then the standard 7/16" linch pins.

I got some 5/16" linch pins that fit. I also got some chain and a couple cotter pins so I can drill some holes in the grapple to keep from loosing the smaller required pins. I cuold have drilled the pins out, but was unsure of the amount of materal that would be left on the pin. I have a slight concern that the smaller linch pin could shear with the rotation force when booming down. Time will tell, but it should be fine.

It will be a while before I get the lines hooked up as I want to make up a couple bulkheads.

Sounds like a good project. Where are you going to mount the bulkhead?

I'm coming from the rear remotes forward along the left side of the 4120. Mounting a bulkhead on the tube that the 400x loader sits on and another bulkhead out the loader arm itself.

Do you have the JD hardline kit? Strange that JD doesn't offer a stock bulkhead on the fel.

Called the dealer to see if they offered one. They do not. The salesman had concerns of even putting a grapple on such a LD loader as the 400x.
