I have a Kubota L2501 4wd and i want to know how wide of implements i can safely pull with the tractor. I'm looking to increase my cutting width when i do mowing of fields. Been using 5 ft bush hog.

Is your tractor hydrostatic or geared? If it's hydro, you could probably handle a light 6' mower. Possible a 7' twin spindle. I don't know if you'll mow any more ground in a given amount of time, but you'll be able to mow at a slower ground speed, which makes the job a little comfier.

I own a six and five ft.BH's.Really don't see a lot of difference in time.I don't think you could any bigger than a 6ft. on a L2501.7ft.single spindles are normally pretty heavy and a 8ft.twin would be too big for sure.

Correct me if I am wrong. You can mow grass up to 30" tall with your 60" Rotary Cutter WITH NEW/SHARP blades.

If you do not maintain blades sharp, grass height you can cut will decrease.

With a 72" light duty Rotary Cutter I speculate the max dry grass height you can cut with sharp blades will be 20" to 22".

If you do not maintain blades sharp, grass height you can cut will decrease.


I believe you are at practical maximum cutting width at 60" with 19-horsepower to the PTO.

I agree. Wouldn't go any larger than a 5' rotary cutter on that tractor. A 6' RFM would be fine on park/golf coarse type grass, but not on taller stuff.

I'd love to hear what you find out... My L2800, while rated for 23.5 pto hp, is a smaller engine to your L2501. I would love to run a 6 footer (light duty) if it would work. It does depend on what you are cutting (green vs. dead, thick or thin, tall vs. trimming off the top).
