why so much compacts overthere?

Hi all!
I've one question: Why do You like this compacts? Is it cause You have no small tractors overthere? Here we have a lot of older small fullsize tractors like Hanomag R 16, Güldner, Deutz F1L514, 15HP or Fahr D12, all older than 40 years, but still in business. You can see them on different websites in Germany.

The compacts have a lot of big tractor feautures built in a smaller tractor that gives an individual the best of both worlds.A lot of people do not have a tract of land or farm or the needs for a larger tractor,a lot of compacts are used on landscaping jobs,and they are easier to transport on trailers etc. But for the size of the tractor you can do some really big jobs with them as well.They are not only relatively small in comparison to a full size tractor but they have a lot of capability and power "compacted" into there compact size./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yes there are many small used tractors here,some still in constant use,some used by small land owners,some in collectors and or restorers hands. Some people just do not want old technology,or they want MFD,or they want something that they hope will run with out being worked on,and some I suspect also want todays emmission compliant tractors for the good of the enviroment. Some might also have that dreaded affliction called Shiny Metal Syndrome!! Keeping up with the Jones's might just be another reason,who knows for sure,or really cares on that one!!

If You mean a compact, i must say no. Porsche builded small tractors like the Junior with 14 HP, I owned one years ago, also wineyard and orchard tractors with the same names like the normal tractors, but the small Porsches You can't compare with the Kubota, jinma, Iseki or the other's, maybe You can take a Bungartz, a Gutbrod(the MF elf), Hako or Holder, they built really compacts, also Krieger, Dexheimer, Schanzlin or Sauerburger, but the last four are very heavy tractors compared with the big 3.Schanzlin par example has a "Gigant" with a 75HP Mercedes-Benz engine. And You must know, that in Germany older compacts are very expensive, older ,smaller tractors also. The most tractor-owners who had no Farms, don't have private so much acres. Most of them use the tractors for their Horses, sheep or to take wood from the forest, or only as a hobby like collecting stamps

I noticed that you mentioned Jinma,Do you see many chinese tractors in Germany?They appear to be a very small percentage of the compacts in the states,I was curious,Dongfeng and jinma
are suppose to be decent machines

I know why I like compact tractors. They allow you to do a lot of work in a short period of time. I know I don't have much free time but I like to do things myself and need to be able to do then on a moments notice. My tractor allows me to do this. I never bothered to figure out if it would be cheaper to hire someone to do the job because I realy enjoy the satisfaction of doing it myself.

There are no chinese or korean tractors overhere, no one would buy it. but some of the got feature , which could'nt be so wrong, just like a Deutz diesel, license built.
I saw a Kubota 4300 on ytmag, and I must say, it's even big as a Deutz 5506 or a Fendt Farmer102, if this Kubota is a compact, too, than for myself i would prefer an american(as US citizen) or a german, may be an european brand.
