Why buy China tools when you can buy knipex

The only place Knipex used to be a available in my area was from the Snap-on truck at outrageous prices. The typical European finish didn’t appeal to me at all. Consequently I bought mostly Made in USA Snap-On, MAC and Channelock pliers

Most Channel Lock stuff I have is pretty good. Until recently Walmart still carried a few made in the USA Channel Lock items. I noticed not long ago these have been replaced by some off brand Chinese brand.
I was working on something today, and when I reached for a pair of C Locks, I got to thinking about this thread. AND that made me go to the tool box I was working out of (I have more than one) and pull out all the C Locks in the drawer of that box, and take a pict.,

I haven't bought a pair in over 30 years, so I didn't even know they "aren't what they use to be" but all I can say is, if you have an older pair like these, then you have some GREAT pliers!

I’ve got Channel Lock, Klein, Knipex and SnapOn pliers and cutters. I tend to favor the CL water pump pliers, SnapOn slip joints and high leverage pliers, Klein for electrical work, Knipex mini bolt cutters and small electronic flush cutters are the best in their category.
But I would be hard pressed to limit my tool boxes and bags to one brand.

I need those cutters

Just be careful/observant of the 'type' that you buy... they look the same but one will specifically say that it's for fencing wire and/or the gauge of wire.

That's the one that I have (fencing). I almost bought the 'other' type but spotted the difference on the packaging.

They are for 12.5 high tensile wire..........

The ones I use say they will cut piano wire.

I only recently (last five years) got wind of Knipex. I have a handful of their tools and I love them. They are my go to tools when I reach into my tool chest for a miscellanous job. My channel locks that I have used for many years seem to get shunned now. Not sure if it is the great grip I get, or the price I paid for the Knipex.
