This set I saved for years to buy as a kid, bought it when I was 13, now I'm over 50 and it still is a pleasure to own and use. Need to overhaul the rachet but the overhaul set is 90$, so it's not cheap, all parts of it is still available new.View attachment 648935IMG_20200403_132114.jpg

In one more well stocked box store the price difference between those two on the picture was around 12$, sadly I suppose 80 percent bought the junk at the left.IMG_20200403_133257.jpg

Yep, I have a many Channellock pliers, mainly because they are made in the USA and decent quality. But the new tools from CL are not as nice as their older tools. They are bulky and clunkier, but maybe that's what consumers want so they feel like they won't break. What's attracted me to Knipex is how sleek and slim many of their pliers are, much like the old tools from my dad and grandpa. Here's a good example... look at the Channellock needle nose pliers compared to the Knipex needle nose pliers. The Channellocks are fat and difficult to use in tight areas, and heavy enough to use as a hammer. The Knipex are like a surgical instrument making them ideal to reach into a tiny are and grab a fine wire. Different tools for different needs I guess.

Agree! The CL tools are huskier, but work for me because as my wife says, I have “the hands of a blacksmith”.
Knipex tools are great and I keep adding more of them to my collection

Here is one thing a really hate, not really anything wrong with it except I do believe it's made in china, Bahco was an old Swedish brand, High quality and I bought without checking, have pliers from Bahco that it made in Spain so I took for granted that this was to. The price was high enough to have it made in the west.IMG_20200403_134509.jpg

I have three Knipex pliers and I dunno. They are fiddly to adjust. If only they made a lefthand version to suit the fact that 50% of mechanics/engineer/logical-thinkers are in fact lefthanded.

Sorry, but that's a left-handed quote. Only 10-12 percent of the population is left handed, and no data to imply that those are especially mechanics/engineer/logical-thinkers. You have otherwise information?

But, back on topic, I had been a dedicated Channel Lock only buyer. Tried a set of Knipex's, and now I'm a converted Knipex buyer.

My channel Lock Pliers are over 50 years and still work as if new. carried side pocket of overall and used for all purposes.
same as klien tools. industry-wide for electrical tools.
Remember the knuckle breaker tools my father used. saw Dad toss a wrench into the pond after it slipped on the square nuts of disk plow.
Bought an almost new "40" John Deere and received a set of 3/4in socket set still new looking condition.

like others, I'm left-handed and have several tools set aside as useless since gripping the tool allows the release of adjustment.
the reason used Craftsman was the warranty. don't know if still covered since every store seems to sell. and never have heard of the knipex brand. will look whenever can get to town. this virus and quarantine of travel looks like will be a while longer.
Plumbing tools are Rigid and they seem never wear out also.
