The more I research, the FJ09 or a nice Triumph Tiger or Sprint would be nice for the trip. I am so in love with triple cylinder motors,

Speaking of triples, my dealer called last week asking if I was interested in either of 2 Triumphs? Said he'd wholesale them to me otherwise they were going to auction. So I went and looked.

One was 2024 Triumph Tiger 900GT he'd let go for $6,900. While it was a little dirty I couldn't find even a scratch on it. It was well equipped with factory aluminum panniers, top box, possibly a taller touring shield, a Corbin seat, and only had 4,415 miles.
Doing a little research the bike itself sold for $15,000. Factory panniers, top box, and mounts are $2,000, the seat is $600. For 2024, the model was updated so this is the latest version. A 2 year old $17K motorcycle for $6,900.

The same person had traded in a 2024 Bonneville T100 as well and it also had 4,500 miles. He said I could have it for $5500.

I really didn't need another motorcycle but I told a friend who had been looking for a used Bonneville and he went out and bought it that day.

I assume the Tiger went to auction or is about to.

In 1982 I bought a new Yamaha 550 Vision, discontinued the next year. It was unusual because a 70° water cooled twin and drive shaft drive. It wasn't a speed demon but it sure was smooth and quiet.
I sold it to a friend who put many miles on it before getting rid of it.
Now I wish I had kept it.View attachment 5732232
I was pretty impressed with the Seca 750 my neighbour bought, back when. Never rode it, but he rode the wheels off it, over a number of Summers.

Honda also had some shafties, in their middleweight-range back then - nice to have a choice, in a smaller platform.

That Seca was the first shafty I'd seen on the road close beside me..... distinctive when the throttle was Cracked/held, the shaft torque gave a bit of lift to the suspension. Not to the point of a handling issue, at least with straight-line high throttle use....

I agree with the MC writer from the 90's.... a well-cared for stock Seca 750 was a good buy....

I know where there's a motorcycle sales/service large building probably 40 miles from home...you can tell closed YEARS ago. I walked up to it, cleaned showroom glass enough to see it's full of bikes, a real assortment from years ago.
I never could find out who owns it. Pickers would wig out!

Bikes are a way of life here in Thailand, mine is a 2008 Honda Phantom 200, based on the Honda Shadow. The locals call it a "Shopper". When it was made it was considered a big bike, now there are 300cc scooters. We also have two step-through Honda Wave bikes.

I had a triple for a couple years; I loved that motor, too.

A good reminder, that what we here consider here to be pit/farm/trail bikes, are primary vehicles in many parts of the world.

Economical transportation ^, that suits local conditions (y) .
