Kubota M7040 cab/hyd shuttle - current, Kubota L3400 - traded
Never too early to think about winter! Was just looking at Will's winter pictures from last year.

I might upgrade my current 68" blower - Walco Meteor to a 74" or so model. The Meteor has been fine so far. Never had any snow sticking or anything like that.

The only complaint I had with it was that one time I hit some stuff on the ground (a tarp I think that my neighbour had left - which I didn't see while I was doing his drive - *no good deed goes un-punished*), and the whole freaking auger came off.

I might want to buy the heaviest duty one that I can afford which is a decent price.

Walco Meteor's are very popular here as are Lucknow and Buhler - all about the same price - $3600 for a 74" with hydraulics. One dealer priced out a similar sized Pronovost and it was $4600! Can't justify that.

When I was looking at Kubota's, the dealer showed me the Kubota blower which is made by Rad in Quebec. Looked very sturdy and was also about $3600.

Any idea who makes the John Deere Frontier ones?

I am way south of you and deal with smaller dumps usually but have had 24" overnight on rare occasions. At any rate I looked into a forward travel blower for my 4520 last year since I have alot of ground clearance. Think it was a Schulte (spelling?), about $5 to 6k.

Go and look at the Bobcat blowers, they are really well built machines. They only go up to a 72" though. I have the 66" version. It was $3200.

I have a buhler and absolutely love it ,very well built and very tough. As an added bonus it comes in orange to match your tractor.....craig

Did not even realize there was a snow removal forum. I guess there have been several more forums added in the last little while.

A front mount won't work for me as I need my loader free for my hay spear which I use every few days in the winter.

I do believe the Frontier blower is made by RAD. I've used mine for just one winter. I have been pleased with the operation. Snow removal with a 3pt. blower has been very enjoyable for me.

Our Buhler Farm King Y500 has been a good blower. Very simple design too. Last winter was the first winter in the three we have had it that we actually broke shear pins. Frozen wood chunks will do that. :).

Lucknow makes an excellent blower too, so does RAD/Provonost.

I break my fair share on logs. My dogs are crazy about carrying firewood out of where I store it, taking it someplace along the driveway and chewing on it. I try to keep the driveway clear but every so often the snowblower finds it.
