The only possible disadvantage a Mahindra could have over a JD is resale value. Having just made the move from a cub cadet SCUT to a JD CUT I can personally attest to the rapid depreciation once it leaves the dealer's lot. Having looked at a lot of used Mahindra's and Kioti's over the last few months they seem to depreciate pretty quickly as well.
You might be able to work that to your advantage. If you have a little time, keep an eye out for Mahindra 3215's or Cub Cadet 7532's (which are identical machines manufactured by Mitsubishi). There was a like new cub cadet 7532 with loader on tractorhouse a couple months back for like 14.5 as I recall.

Happy shopping.

$8000 saved up front covers a whole lot of resale value difference. Oftentimes I see people talk about resale values, but it seems pretty rare that someone has actually resold a machine. Oftentimes they have traded the machine in, and trade-in values and resale values are two different animals.

What I see in the marketplace is a huge void in the used Mahindra market created by the lack of used machines. A search at Equipment Trader Online.com-Search Over 35,000 Listings to Buy or Sell New and Used Equipment shows 117 ads with Mahindras, but only about half a dozen are used. It's tough to judge resale on such a small sampling.

Mike, Keith,

thanks for you opinions, I gotta agree with both. It is difficult decision, since I am not convinced ,that JD is a superior machine any more.

I have these #'s .

JD....3520 hydro 4x4 FEL $21950 it has 2 extra hydro outlets standart from factory, I believe.

TC 35DA......same as above .....hydro FEL 4x4.....$20700/ebay seller Newton, SC/

TC 34DA....local......$18900

Mahindra3215....4x4 gear,FEL....17500dollars/with 2 optional outlets for grapple, worth $700/..original price 16 800 dollars.
Mahindra 3510....$18200.

So, the difference between Mahindra 3215 gear and JD 3520 hydro is 4400 dollars.

Now, NH doesn't have 0%/36m....That makes their tractors automatically 3000 dollars more expensive.....so NH is out.

The point I am trying to make is, that JD IS NOT tHAT heluva expensive. Or I am just missing something?!DUNNO. Am I?
4400 dollars is not such a big difference, I would go with JD. BUT, I have my reservations regarding simplicity and reliability of JD hydro.

The difference between Mah 3215 gear and NH TC 34DA hydro is only $ 1400....! Interesting.

One major difference I see is the lift capacities.

The 3215 has a lift capacity of 2,646#

The NH TC 34DA has a lift capacity of 1,635#

Also in comparison between the 3510 and the NH TC 34DA...

Mahindra 3510
-overall weight 3483#

34DA
-overall weight 2514#

Mahindra 3510
-lift capacity 2865#

34DA
-lift capacity 1635#

this may be something to also think about.

Also if you'll compare the 3215 and 3510 to the comparable 3000 series JD models (3320/ 3520) you'll see they outperform them in overall weight and 3 pt. lift capacities as well.

Yes, I do think about all those #s. I could use a bigger tractor, but the question remains, do I need 3500 pounds machine and do I need 2500 lbs lifting capacity. BUT nobody can help me to make that decision for me......
You guys are kind enough to waste your time with me here. You are very helpfull, but I have to make up my mind. And thats the problem, since I do not have a slightest idea what is a tractor, any tractor, capable of. Maybe a small 24HP machine would be plenty for my task. ALL I know is, that I want a big and tall rear wheels. As big as possible, with regard to my towing limitations. 4x4,FEL, grapple and tree spade for start. Therefore, bigger is better. Thats why I think Mah 3510 might be the optimal choice. Weight....max I can go. 36months/0%...yes. Simple, geared, no electronics machine..yes.

Made in Korea /3510/....minus, big minus. Is it? I want to be open minded. I realize many times we do not know what's going on when we buy brand name product of any kind. Many of us would never buy that product, if we knew...

Hydraulics, lifting capacity, 4x4, shifting, reliability, warranty and a dealer network seems to be just fine.
Anyway, Mahindra 3510 / 3225 / seems to be the best choice.

It sounds like you have narrowed it down to a couple of tractors, now I would pick my choice according to how well the dealer is capable in your area.

/ which one? #47
Why do you feel Korean made is a minus? South Korean automobiles are giving Japanese auto makers a real run for their money quality wise. Hyundai is a good example. South Korean tractors are also. TYM the South Korean maker of the 3510 Mahindra build a lot of components for John Deere and others. The South Korean Daedong engine in the 3510 has been bullet proof. It is a good bet that you have South Korean electronics in your home. I don't see South Korean made as a minus. Just my opinion.

/ which one? #48
I agree with Galen, the 3510's we have sold have been trouble free engine wise. Haven't had a single one back in with any engine problems.

Just some food for thought, but weight and lift capacities are a big factor with tractors. A lighter tractor will loose traction much easier when put under a heavy load especially when using the loader.

A $4400 difference is pretty large when you are going from $17,500 to $21,950. That puts the Deere at 25% more than the Mahindra.

That JD price is $1650 higher than my Mahindra 4110 was. The 4110 is substantially more tractor than is the JD. My Mahindra came plumbed with a set of auxillary remotes from the factory. I really like my 4110, which is the big brother of the 3510. These are well made tractors, that are highly functional and easy to use.

While that $4400 doesn't seem like much, you also need to look at it like this. If you can afford to spend an extra $4400 now then you could go ahead and get things like a grapple, toothbar and other items you want and get them at the special Mahindra finance rates.

.............everything you guys say makes perfect sense.
Keith, I think about all this the same way. For 4400 I could have most of my implements.
Today I rode total 198 miles to see few dealers. I want to see TC 35 DA , Mahindra 3510 and JD 3520.

New Holland.... dealer did not have O N E single blue tractor. All he had was one CASE tractor, / being serviced at their shop/. The rest were not available since he was toooo busy./you know I am here alone/

Mahindra ....salesman told me a week ago he won't be "there" next Saturday.
OK, I thought, I don't need him to see a tractor, someone else can show me it. Right, I won"t be there meant they will be C L O S E D.

JD dealer... out of stock.. neither 3520 nor 990 in stock. He had 3720 ,so at least something.
I was not a lucky traveler today,
B U T I saw Mah.3510....and it is a big tractor, with a 112 loader it look like a monster!!!!!!!!!! NOW, it is so big, big wheels, great, plus basically everything I want.........................................3215 is like a toy next to it, not really.. but still smaller. LOVE IT.

Now I feel sorry for my F 150. I gotta find out how much is the whole thing,3510 plus ML 112.
I hope I could fit it behind my 150.....as someone suggested earlier w/o problem and my journey is over.
SO, after all I did not waste my day today.

I had a dealer once tell me that they aren't open a lot on Saturday's in the winter months, due to business being pretty slow on farm equipment during the winter.

If you're going to trailer a tractor the best way to do it is with a goose neck. That places the weight over your rear axle instead of on the bumper.

The 3510 is a dandy tractor, it weighs in at around 3400 or 3500 pounds.

Keith,

I like it, what I would love to have is JD 5103, I think it was, they had this one in the showroom,2x4 HUGE piece of machine. It must weight over 5000 #.
Big, tall rear wheels, long motor, seat is sooooooo high , it must be a magnificant feeling to drive this beauty.
$14300, I am getting fascinated with all this farm equipment, it looks like my farm genes started waking up/my father was born on a farm, left when he was 19/. I spent my childhood vacations on my grandparents farm, I loved it.

Well, tractor for the start. I have a cab on my truck, no goose neck for me...I have a towing package and a big motor, I should fit in 8000 lb.towing limit.

I drove Saturday to see Mah. 3510, they should've been open, but they were closed.......again./I called they said they'd be there./
Funny, the first Mahindra dealer in IN. just refused to let me test drive any tractor several weeks ago. I only drove 45 miles to find out....The second dealer was 80 miles. 3 trips, one hit. No more Mah. dealers for me.

Well , I looked at Massey Ferguson instead. I liked it. I did not even consider MF before. Very nice dealer and I wasn't in a good mood..
Sorry for venting my frustration, I just want to let you guys know, since you were SO helpfull!!!
I have to look for either another dealer or another brand.......dunno yet.....

I really like the 10 series Mahindra, although I'm biased cause I have a 2810HST, But if the dealers aren't good, I'd move on. There's a lot of good machines out there, keep looking.
Those two dealers are really missing a prime opportunity to make a sale, kinda hard to understand isn't it? There is a Mahindra marketing member, musa_marketing on TBN. I'd send him a p/m and let him know about these dealers. If I were part of Mahindra, I'd want to know.

You mentioned you want to clear 10 wooded acres. Three years ago I had loggers buy my yellow pine and large white oaks off of my 5 acres. I thought I needed a mid size compact tractor to clean up the mess they left. I settled on a used Ford 3055 with 54 HP and 2WD. I thought it was too large for what naive me wanted to do. I thought it was too big until I started working the mess with a box blade and a chain saw. I realized real quick that logs are heavy and can turn against you with a ligther tractor. The high ground clearance with 6.00 X 19 inch front tires and 13.5 X 36 rear tires came in handy getting over brush and stumps. The weight also was welcome over a smaller tractor, but no matter how much weight and traction you have, you will want more when trying to pile up large pine and oak stumps.
A FEL and 4WD is a must. But remember weight and ground clearance while dreaming of dancing logs out to a saw mill. Talk to some of the loggers up in you neck of the woods to see what they would recommend.
FYI......I sold the Ford 3055 last week and will sign the papers Wednesday on a 6520 4WD with loader and backhoe.
Happy Hunting, Brandi

bindian,
I am not planning to start logging. Just lots of bushes and unwanted aspens, small. I would love to buy something used, but I don't take my chances.
Plus construction site preparations, truss handling, etc. I should probably rent and be done with it. But more I read this forum , more I feel like missing some fun.... anyway life is short and i want to experiment with whatever's available, interesting and whatever I decide I want to afford. AND save some money while doing it. I am also interested in portable saw mill, so I WILL use it for occasional tree transportation. I'll buy a grapple.
I have a limited towing capacity. 10 series Mahindra would be the max. I can tow. I mean the smallest 10 series, 3510.

Praha,
I was reading your posts, and I know what you are going through. I went through the same thing. I was really wondering about buying the Mahindra tractor over a John Deere or Kubota. After really going over the pros and cons, I decided on the Mahindra 2615. More tractor for the money and a very good reputation. I did not consider what the dealer or advertisements said about the tractor line, rather I surfed the web for forums of current owners to see what they had to say about their Mahindra tractors. Everything I read was good, they seem to be a very good machine. I work hard for my money and believe me I don't want to throw away dollars for a product that won't cut it.

I just cant justify spending two extra thousand dollars for a name, period!

You have to buy what makes you feel good, just weigh your options and use sound judgement. Mahindra tractors are just as good as the green and orange ones. Buy what you want and enjoy it.

Sabula Farmer,

thanks for a nice post. As I mentioned before , I can't wait to go for a test drive. It's getting warmer, snow might be gone quickly, so I am going this Saturday. The trouble is all dealers are pretty far away , far apart and closed at 1 p.m.
Mahindra is definitively on the top of my list. Massey Fergusson dealer is the best of all around. I was surfing the Net for long time and reach the point, where I stopped and decided to GO and SEE.
Later , next months sometimes, I will go to TX, so I am going to have a plenty time to test drive whatever I want. But I am running out of time for 0% financing...
I gotta admit I love this "educating" stage. I am learning completely different field, plus I enjoy a different bunch of people around these forums. Real, genuine guys with the big hearts. These people spend tons of time helping others. Just to come here at night makes me feel very relaxed and happy.

Just look at this thread. I asked a simple question and we are on 6 pages already!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing. I didn't expect that. I love it.

Good luck in your search, and don't worry about what others think, it's you paying the bill for the tractor. If I had a dollar for every time someone said I should have bought a John Deere, I would have the money to purchase every attachment there is for my Mahindra. Besides, red looks better.
