Which oil does what?

Hi All,

Does the transmission oil also act as hydraulic fluid, lube the PTO and the diferential on my 20F industrial. If so , what is an adaquate low priced oil and where to buy it?

Yes, it lubes your transmission, Diff and runs your 3pt. If you have a loader, that MAY be different.

Cheap oil is cheap oil in my book. Take care of your machine and don't use it.

Hi All,

This is the first tractor I have owned. I'm going through it changing all the fluids and giving it a general housecleaning as it was bought as is, and as is was with a lot of defered maintenance. I bought a manual that is rather thorough until you get to the lubricants part and then it is entirely lacking. Maybe the operators manual covers oil changes etc.

Anyway, there seems to be a lot of tractor gearbox/hydraulic fluid available from $39.00 for 5 gallons at tractor supply to over $100. for synthetic. I'm hoping that someone can recomend a comon sense lube suitable for my MF 20F that is commonly available in Southern California. Even a specification would be helpful as my manual doesn't even tell me what weight of oil to use.

get the regular utf oil from tractor supply or walmart. the can will show lots of specs. for instance the ford spec is m2c134d.. I'm sur ethere is a MF spec.. however most modern utf oils meet all thos specs.

i've been using the traveler UTF fluid in all my tractors, including ones with wet clutches and brakes.. up to and including a 2002 95 hp NH 7610s with no ill effects.
