which insurance plan to chose ?

Medicare Advantage plans are becoming less available in some areas because they are like HMOs in that they only pay fully for "in plan" medical providers. If the reimbursement is below market, the local providers won't participate so the plan becomes unavailable.
My current health care plan on United Healthcare can be used as an advantage plan. I have had no problems finding Drs that take it, pretty much every one does.

Advantage plans are contracts that can and do change from year to year. They are more geared for your specific area. If you travel, they may not be accepted if you should happen to need to use a hospital, or see a doctor. Medicare and a supplement follows you and pays the same no matter which state you may travel to.

Medicareschool.com is your friend on getting educated about advantage plans.
My son is a hospital administrator.. He advised me to stay from advantage plans, and I listened !

The supplement plans do cost more then the advantage plans, so I hope they are worth it.
I went with a supplement instead of an advantage plan for the flexibility.

We see quite a few with Advantage everyday but I don't know any of the medical staff eligible with Advantage...

The HMO Kaiser is very popular in California and started on Oakland CA.

I need to double check mine, I said it can be used as advantage, but maybe it’s supplemental instead.

but with a supplement, you won't have to worried about if you're covered or not. If Medicare covers it, your supplement has to pay.
You can always switch to an advantage plan, but depending on what state you live in, you can't always switch to a supplement plan.
You can also go to medicare.gov and look at all the advantage plans and see your out of pocket cost. Anywhere from $6,000.00-$10,000.00 max out of pocket per yr

I have never heard of a supplement that can be used as an advantage plan. And why would you want it to be used as an advantage plan ?
You either have an advantage plan, or a supplement plan.

You can check out all plans available on medicare.com, or watch the videos on medicareschool.com

My existing united health ins brochure is confusing on the subject.
In one paragraph it says I can have traditional Medicare A and B , then it will reimburse me most of part B if I select Retiree Advantage. It says part A and B are primary. So it sounds like a supplement plan

I think for it to be a supplement, I don’t select to get reimbursed for the PartB, ie by not choosing Retire advantage.

Then it talks about part C plans as a separate thing, but then goes into the Retiree Advantage again in addition to an advantage plan.

To me it looks like I can keep my existing plan to supplement either traditional or part C advantage.
Them naming it Retiree Advantage causes confusion.
