Which Deere 4000

The 5105 and 5205 must be fairly new additions to that line...when I bought my 5410, which was only last fall, it was clearly 5210, 5310, 5410, 5510. I have the glossy flyer right here on my desk. They also called it the 5000-ten series, which I guess they had to rename when they added the "05"'s.

Thanks for the update.

My JD dealer said that the 5105 and 5205 did not have the same engines as the 5000 Ten series. The 5000 Ten series have a JD engine. The 51's do not have all the bells and whistles. I looked at them and noticed that they are made like the older style tractors. One thing I noticed was that unlike the Ten series it is open between the fenders.

ejb,

The 5 series is made to compete with the Massey Ferguson and other lower cost tractors. They have some really neat features, but in general are pretty spartan. You wouldn't want one if you could afford the 10 series. They had both at the Stock Show this year.

I guess by open between the fenders that it is not fully enclosed. I nearly got my foot hung between a tractor tire and the floor board on a Massey - and became quickly sensitive to unprotected areas. It is also easy to drop things that you didn't mean to drop. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
