Grading Which blade for B3030?

I have a 6' on my B2910. The 5' will not cover the tire track when angled. I have a HD blade made for a larger tractor. The weight helps to do ground leveling much better than a lighter weight blade.

I aquired my six foot rear blade last year. Was told at the time that if I went with a seven foot blade it would be best to have the tires weighted. And, as ronjhall noted, the five foot blade doesn't cover the tracks when angled.

I'm still debating between a 6 or 7 foot with the sole use being snow removal. I'm leaning towards the 6 foot as there would be quite a bit of overhang to keep track of with the 7 foot blade straight. I fear I would end up bumping one of my vehicles or something. I've used my dad's 6 foot blade and never had any problems pulling it.

I got a 5 foot when I bought my B3030. After the first few times of using for plowing snow I traded it back to my dealer for a 6 footer. The 5 footer does not push the snow out past the tires far enough as others have said. I have loaded rear turf tires and it does great in the snow as long as 4WD is engaged. You will like it.

Ive only got a 5ft El Cheapo King Kutter on my B3030. I cant fit a 72 inch blade between trees here. For what an El Cheapo costs me...when...or even IF it ever wears totally out...I can get a new one for less than a big name back blade

I feel like we got a pretty good deal for the 6'. We paid $415 plus tax...the next cheapest dealer I found was $500. My husband is happy with it, so that's what matters most.

Well, I won't quibble with that attitude, for sure. Anyhow, a 6' blade is fine, as it will extend beyond the tracks of your rear tires, and will, for the most part, not pick up more debris than your tractor can handle without loading the tires or some other approach to putting more weight on the treads (if turf tires, forget the above comments). You'll find that traction is lost way before the engine is challenged. I've a 6' box blade on an L3410, and it's a good match unless I get too much wet sandy stuff in the box - then all that happens is my rear wheels spin (yeah, despite switching to 4WD and locking the rear axle), easily handled by dumping a bit of the load. If you've just a simple blade, without the box, no problem.

I have a 5' and while it does have some advantages, the 6' would serve me better. (There's a joke in there somewhere, but I won't go down that road :))

And thats exactly why I run the smaller impliment(s) that I have. Being a tractor "newbie" the last thing I want to do is to "bust my toy". So when Im "attempting" to root out a stump with the FEL...or ??..some other job...I get tire spin as compared to other things...like maybe even upending the tractor itself..who knows?
