Hydraulic piping comes in metric. Its quite soft though, its better to lathe 1 1-4" ASTM 4140 round stock, if you want to use it as a cutting punch.

Or what i use to cut a hole in rubber: hammer the ferrule of a hydraulic pipe fitting through it. Its hard and sharp.
