Nah! I was just teasing him regarding keeping it under the lawn. I do keep a pile of black dirt out in the back corner of our place for filling planters, low spots in the lawn, etc... I had so much of it accumulated over the years that I ended up making a 2' high berm all the way across the back of our yard, about 150' long x 2' high x 4-5' wide. Funny how I never bring dirt to our place, but the pile grows each year. Lots of it comes from leaves being composted, yard waste, etc... what doesn't get used on the garden goes in the stock pile.

I think keeping it under a roof would keep the rain from leaching out some of the nutrients, although it may dry it out a tad.

*That's why I keep some of it inside.

As most of you know I used to install swimming pools. People were always asking what I did with the leftover dirt. Rarely was any left cause the yard was never level anyway. I had one fellow ask what I was going to do with all the leftover dirt from his pool and I told him I was going to dig a hole and bury it. Believe it or not that is what he told his neighbor when he needed a couple buckets full to fill a low spot in his yard. He said I was sorta selfish when other people needed some dirt. Go figure. Thanks Nat!! I hope I can remember that answer if ever I get a question I can use it on.

Keep mine under the pasture and the cows, holds them up, and the chickens do not get so tired flapping wings all day and the eggs are no longer scrambled as often. Tried putting up 'air' t posts but the sky hooks would not hold them in place as well as dirt.

About as bad a gentleman asked me if i bred all the cows. Had to politely tell him that we let the bull do it. NO KIDDING, he really asked.
