Whats your thoughts on finding a water source

On the witching, I will leave with an open mind. I know a man that thinks that he has never been wrong. In this part of the country who can hit water almost anywhere. I had the water company want to find a valve on my land. I told them where I thought the line was. They had a metal detector. When over where the valve was and did not find it. They used wires and three of them said the water line was right where I thought it was. It wasn't! It was 3 feet to one side. The bad part was that the valve was only 1 foot deep and them couldn't find it with the metal detector. But as I said, I will keep on open mind.
