What's with this weather??

All I have seen so far is a couple flakes over a month ago. Ski Liberty, which I have a view of out my north window has to be crying the blues. Every time it get's cold out they start to make snow. 2 day's later it either get's warm and melts it or it rains. Glad I'm not in the snow making business. :)

In the northeast there a saying.."If you don't like the weather wait 5 mins and it will change"...wellll in this case give it couple of hours.

At 5:15am 25F and cloudly,two hours later 29F w/freezing rain.
Vehicle are glaze over w/ice,driveway looks like glass, branches are starting to sag w/ice build up,and the lights flicker twice already.

Some say wood heat to much of pain to deal with, but on days like this its well worth the time...wood heat our secondary back up :).

Score so far... 2sandings and 1plowing...strange indeed.

Today Dec 30th the temp at 10:00pm it is 43 degrees outside and we have had over an inch of rain in the last two days.
Yesterday we had the temps hit 62 degrees and it rained most of the day. In fact it rained several days in a row. My front, which should be frozen solid and snow covered, is so soggy that you sink into it when walking.

I actually considered overseeding some of the bare spots with some grass seed yesterday.

To kick off the new year we are supposed to have temps all week in the 40s with occasional rain.

I rented some movies this weekend for my son and I to watch, one was Al Gore's An inconvenient truth, If you want to understand why the weather is what it is then you owe it to yourself to make a special trip, not put it off til you are going, to get and watch this movie. It opened my eyes and scared me at the same time. I wonder if this planet can support human activity for even 50 more years.

The meteorologists on television said the warm weather was due to El Niño.
Maybe they haven't seen the movie yet. ;)

You owe it to yourself to do more research and not just believe this movie. As you found out, one of this movie's purposes is to scare people, similar to the experts who told us in the 80s we had, at most, 10 years to save the oceans. There are plenty of reputable scientists who do not agree with the 'science' portrayed in this movie.

Central N.C, sunny right now, probably mid 60's. Last couple of days till this morning, a very steady rain. Lawn is becoming a mud bath with all the dogs, driving for the paper this morning, water everywhere along the rural road, two small streams out back were overlfowing this morning and a couple of houses looked like they had some serious water issues on the drive to town.

Although I've learned to love the weather in the south, every once in a while is would be great to have a white Christmas and new year!

Don't be to sure about that statement. :) When I was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC back in my Army day's it snowed about 1 inch one day. OMG! Have these people ever seen snow before is all I could think to myself. One thing is for sure, they don't get enough of the white stuff down there to know how to drive in it. I was going downtown for something that day and couldn't believe all the accidents I saw.

Hey, go from Bragg in June to Drum in January:)

Actually I really think it's all the relocated Yankees that can't drive down here:), particularly in the Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.

People in Upstate N.Y seem to drive just as worse as those down here. Give someone four wheel drive, and they think they can go anywhere!

That said, theres something to be said for being able to go for a run at the end of February early March in shorts and a tee-shirt!

However, when you cancel your Christmas Parade because they're calling for 1" of snow...
