Does anyone know what this is? What's it's function? If fell out of a valve port when I was removing some connectors from the valve? Thanks Tom

Appears to be a hydraulic flow restricter, but I'm no expert...

That was my first thought. Would it be used to prevent a cylinder from extending under load?

look up the definition of restric... IE.. it slows.

It might be used to keep a cyl from moving slow and not slapping back / forth due to the 'full flow' from the circuit being bottleknecked thru a small orifice.

other things you can find in some valves. are check circuits.. these prevent cyls from dropping when they are not suposed to. many 'manlift' hyd systems have piloted checks right at the cyls, so even if a hose breaks at the cyl, the cyl doesn't drop.. etc.

It is an aluminum heat sink for a blow back valve which mounts on the left side of a multi use pronger.

It is actually the nicest one of those I have seen recently but most of them are brass not aluminum.

daBear. Thanks. OK its a heat sink. What would it be doing in a port of a hydraulic valve? BTW I don't know the function of a blow back valve or what a multiuse pronger.

It is a flow restricer as soundguy and lunk said. It just slows the flow of fluid down because it has to pass through that small orifice.

You would use it to say slow the movement of a cylinder down if it was moving to fast.
