What\'s a good winch ?

I'm going to do the elec winch mod for the snowblower chute rotation and wondered what others had found for a good winch.

I thought I would upgrade a little and remove the winch in the summer and utilize for other projects instead of letting it sit around. Maybe load logs onto the mill, drag logs in the woods, unstick tractor, etc.

I like the price of the economy Superwinch T2000 for $ 165 but maybe would upgrade. Any recommendations ?

I do not know much about brands for electric winches. But I do know for doing logging that a 2000lb winch will not help you much at all. I use a 10,000lb winch and most of the time it does not have the power to pull the tractor out on its on. And when skidding logs the 10,000lb does it most of the time but not all of the time. Also if you can get a hydraulic winch you will find it alot better than an electric one. That is just my 2 cents...

Aside from pulling power, watch for the amperage the winch pulls at maximum load. It will vary from brand to brand.

I wont be doing any serious logging, just thought it might help out once in a while. I'll ck the draw on them too.
