Mowed again today. Love da mower.
We'll see what I find when I dig into this. The truth is, re-powering my machine with a new motor is still probably much cheaper than a new battery mower of similar capacity, and I doubt my present issues are even that bad.Well, my last two mowers both were losing there engines when they were retired.![]()
I said this many pages back. 2 mowers back was Honda powered and blew a jug gasket. Had the dealer put new ones in for 800 and it never was right after that. The $$$ spent was a waste. We'll see what I find when I dig into this. Yeah, I can believe it. But I usually do all of my own engine work.
If the problem is bigger than my time or patience will allow, I can drop a new crate motor on the thing for $2300 OEM or under $2k aftermarket. I'd hate to put that kind of money into a 18 year old machine, but the reality is that everything on it is in really good shape.
What's the going rate on a 60" commercial mower at 25 hp these days? I'm guessing $12k+, based on 2007 pricing + inflation?
What's the pricing on a BEV mower rated above 6 acres per hour and with a commercial-duty deck and drives?
Wow. I'm not one of those guys who needs bragging rights on the best mower, it's just a stupid machine that cuts my lawn.A Hustler X One is about 12-15k depending on deck and motor choice.
BEV? $25K plus in that category

It'll be interesting to see how the commercial BEV units hold up in the hands of homeowners who just have a little more than the average lawn, and might have traditionally bought a commercial-duty gasser.
Air-ride seats are the hot band-aid to bumpy rides these days.Is the XOne a full-suspension machine? If I were buying a new mower today, I'd be looking hard at machines with suspension, no matter what power plant drives it.
My machine is a hard ride, in fact these early-2000's 700/900 series Deere's were known among landscapers to be a uniquely stiff, even compared to other hard-tails of the time (eg. Exmark). It's a solid machine, but just like mom warned you about eating before swimming, this machine will have you cramping within 30 minutes if you don't go in with an empty stomach.

Yes, they are and my Kubota front mount diesel came with air ride.Air-ride seats are the hot band-aid to bumpy rides these days.
Well, I do like kids and the help.I'll say this, the cut seems pretty nice, and that boy looks to be loving all the experience he is gaining.
I think your arrangement with him and his family has been very beneficial to you both.
