I just bought a L2800HST with 430hrs on it but I can't find what year it is... Is there a sticker somewhere on these things with year on it. It looks new, great shape, estimating a 2005 to 2007. The guy I bought it from moved and I actually never met him, just spoke on the phone to work the deal and he was not sure what year it is, he couldn't remember when he bought it exactly..

There are some old threads on this and you can get the serial number and a dealer can probably tell you, but it really isn't that important like it is with cars/trucks.

Great site, thanks for the link.. The PO is suppose to be sending me all the maintenance manuals and associated paperwork in the mail. There maybe something there that tells the year, I was just curious..

BTW:If your hydrolics(loader,etc) ever get slow:check your lower return hose.Also good idea on that model to have an extra sight glass around.
Won't go into the infamous jerky 3 pt hitch issues I'd like for you to get a good nites sleep.

I assume on the sight glass you mean that it is in a bad location and can be knocked off easily???
I haven't got the manuals for this thing yet and don't know much about maintenance, or trouble issues..
Already know about the 3pt jerky issue, and yes I am stricken with it.. Mine jumps up and down when trying to raise something slowly. At fast raise it works fairly smooth so that is what I try to do each time so far. I haven't had anything on back but a PRD7200 finish mower though..
First of all, there is a major oil change at 400 hours, can you talk to the previous owner to see if that was done? You are planning to get the manuals? They do a good job explaining how to do the maintenance. Only thing I don't like in the maintenance schedule, kubota doesn't list hours to replace thing... on the far right side they say replace yearly or something. Find out what the previous own has changed.
The return hose from '04 to early '06 didn't last long, they would crack and allow air to be sucked in. If the power steering or loader acts funny or slows down... that's usually the problem. My guess is that has been taken care of. That's the curved 1.5" (?) hoses by the brake pedals.
The sight glass is "weak" or some were over torqued at the factory. I've never had problems with mine.

My sight glass has not given up yet, or the suction hose cracked yet either, but the suspension seat was nearly rusted up tight. push your seat over on the steering wheel, and loosen up the adjustment T handle on the back of the seat frame and put your ROPS up and get up there and stomp up and down on the flat plate of the seat base after you lube it up really well with something like Fluid Film or PB blaster. When it starts springing up and down really well you are done. Try to do this in a private place, as the "Wiley Coyote stomp" looks really stupid to a bystander. Then sit in the seat and adjust the tension on the T handle for your weight to not bottom out when you bounce up and down. A lot of owners don't even know they have an suspension seat, as they are rusted up by the time the tractor is delivered new. Good Luck.

Thanks for all the info teg, I will certainly watch for those things and check them out. I do know that all the 400 hr maintenance was done at the Kubota shop. All filters have hrs written on them with sharpie and I can't see any fluid leaks anywhere on it.
Serial Number is on a plate on the frame, "driver's side" , by the front axle (mine was pretty well covered with grease and dirt). Post at least the first 3 digits and we might get close to a year. But really the year doesn't mean a whole lot... number of hours and how well it was maintained means more.
If you bush hog dried grass... check the front screen often. It can clog and you'll over heat... don't ask me how I know...

My serial number is 53617, any info you can give me about it would be appreciated. Again, I am just a curious owner and like to know as much about my stuff as I can.
Also I have read on here in different places about some recalls, is there a way to know what recalls are out there and if they apply to my tractor??
As for the over heating bush hogging, yes I have learned that the hard way myself with my B7500. I do check and wash the front grill and screens off regularly after that one myself.
So I was about 500 after you, so you might be early 2005 since mine was bought 7-20-05 - but you never know how long they were sitting on the lot in a crate. Mine was ordered and put together within a couple of weeks... but I don't know if it was sitting in some other lot or if it came "fresh" off the assembly line .
There were no official "recalls" there are what are called Product Improvement Bulletins... where if something breaks that kubota knows about AND you have a good dealer that looks into it... you *might* get something fixed (and not always free). Please don't get me started about those!!!
One of the big PIB with your vintage tractor would be the PTO cable hookup. That was changed out because the cable would kink and break over time (like 230 hours). Might ask if that has been done.
