In order for your blade to work on standing bamboo I'm guessing you would need it to be open rather than enclosed like a regular mower blade. That would resemble an angle grinder raised on steroids!! I have seen ditch clearing machines that consisted of tracked excavator type equipment with hydraulic driven slashers where the bucket is normally mounted. These are in use to control all manner of growth in ditches that are too rugged and rocky or steep to drive wheeled tractors. The excavators do this work crawling along the shoulders of the road.

I've seen a modified push mower like you're talking about, just had the front of the deck cut back to allow the blade to be exposed maybe 4in or so. Looked to be about a 20in blade.

Or you could get something like this:

Years ago I was tinkering with an old string trimmer. Thought a brush blade would be fun. fabricobbled an old carbide circular saw blade on it and gave it a whirl. It took quite a while to rev up. The first and only cut was on a sapling in the fence row. A gentle swing into the sapling and there was a small and very short "ding" sound and the blade was through the sapling. It gave me the shivers. Shut her down, removed the blade and never thought of trying it again. I got the impression that if it ever bumped my leg it would take it off.

An off the wall thought about a custom cutter...

Sorry about the ambiguous title...I'm curious if anyone has ever put a large 18"-20" circular saw blade on a regular push mower ??

I figured I could modify a mower deck so the front of the blade was leading by several inches and set the wheels as low as possible...
Thoughts ??
I did that many years ago, cut the deck and the right front wheel off of a big wheel push mower.

Used it on brush. Worked good.

Trimmer could spin this works on small trees, don't know about bamboo

found easier solution

Would a regular scrub cutter work? I find that cutting 3'' trees I am limited to a slow cut as the engine is to small. If your bamboo is only 2'' then it may do the job resonably cheaply instead of getting a job specific machine.
I use a regular 7'' skill saw blade on mine.
How big an area of bamboo, and what is the bamboo thickness?
