What to do with a pigeon that has moved in?

The bird lives! Again, I don't have a clue where she spends most of her time, but generally most mornings she is waiting up on the roof of my house. I walk out with my little bag of bird food and she hops to the edge of the house and then flies down to my firewood. She will again eat out of my hand, but will fly away if anyone else approaches her.

I'm assuming that she must have her regular "rounds" where she gets food. She seems to be healthy and in good shape.

Not picking sides here nor reading back through the post but I thought this was a nuisance bird.

Junk and others,

At what point do you rid a bird that is causing problems or property damage? I had some sort of bird put a series of nice scratches in my new black Mercedes as it attacked its reflection. Had a woodpecker bore holes clear through my cedar siding. What should I do with these birds?

At one point, it was a nuisance. It either stayed on my firewood crapping away, or walked around my porch doing the same. Once the "owner" showed up and was, what I consider, aggressive in trying to capture the bird, it is now only a pleasant visitor.

The update this morning is that, for the first time in a couple of weeks or more, she isn't waiting on my roof for me to feed her breakfast. Maybe she'll come by later, maybe one of the hawks or owls got her, or maybe she just moved on. Who knows.

It seems odd, but in some way I kind of miss the little thing getting excited to see me walk out of my house and swooping down to get a hand full of cracked corn (apparently her favorite treat). /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I would pepper the bird as it was attacking the Mercedes with a 12 gauge shotgun full of bird shot. That will teach the buzzard to stay away from the car. By the way, the Mercedes should have been parked in the garage. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
As for the woodpecker, I would let him / her live for another day. I would remove the siding and see what insects were living under it, because the only reason that a woodpecker drills holes in a home is to get to the insects under the siding. I have no ideas how to rid yourself of the insects or the woodpecker, however, I will check with my red headed friend, Woody and ask him for suggestions. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

the car not sure, never had a bird do that. Was this a more than once thing?

As for the siding, I agree with Junk, something in there to eat.........there the bird HELPED you out.

I'm glad you let the little gal live, Dargo. I like birds and hate to see any get killed senselessly.

That is the movie. I have both saved to my hard drive along with about 30 others that are just as good, or better. I love the way that the advertisements are done on the other side of the pond. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey Brent, I think I know where your bird went. He's now named Boyd and living at the DNR launchsite over by me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifHe's been hanging there for a week or so per the regulars. Jan and I tried catching him today, that was it, tried. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
