What to do with a pigeon that has moved in?

You other guys are wicked! If PETA is watching this, you'll get hate email. 

The folks from PITA are welcome to stop by our next company cookout. We usually have several hundred burgers, hot dogs, sausages, etc out on the grill. Did a fish fry once, but that was a lot more work to clean up. We even feed customers and suppliers who stop by on those days. There is plenty to go around. We haven't done BBQ pigeon, but I suppose we could.

I always thought that pigeons were the "rats" of the bird world. I wouldn't eat one.

Actually, their "type" - rock cornish game hens are rather tastey, slow roasted in an oven with orange juice concentrate and a pineapple at 400 degrees for an hour.

I'd try and stop feeding it. It should continue on.

The owl decoys work great too, better a real one as previously noted.

I've always heard that squab is a real delicacy, but never had the opportunity to try it. Of course, I've also heard that you have to get them young before they leave the nest.

I think Junkman is right on with his take. It will rest a few days and move on. Just needs food & water. Then the homing drive will kick in and off he will go.....

You may try to get the tag number and call the owner from Brian's list just to let him know where his bird is, even if the bird takes off......

I would have to be pretty hungry to eat one of those feathered rats also.

Of course, I've also heard that you have to get them young before they leave the nest. 

Wife's grandpa said they would build a bird appartment house with lots of nest boxes. After the chicks would hatch, they'd kill all but one chick in each nest so the parent could spend all their time feeding one chick. As the chick got bigger, they'd tie a string onto its leg and to a peg on the box so it couldn't leave. When it was X days old, they'd remove it from the nest and eat it.
