Okay, I came back by home for a lunch break and handed the little guy a small piece of bread. He bit me!! Now it's war! I may take away his frisbee food if he tries that again. Better yet, I'll move his frisbee dish to the ground and let Dargo feast on him! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes...... and you deserved it.... trying to choke the poor little thing with dry white bread. He is a free soul, not a prisoner. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah. I would use some water, parsley flakes, salt, celery and corn bread and see if the little fellow likes that... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Brent,
Brian's link is for the International Federation. There is also the American Racing Pigeon Union, http://www.pigeon.org/carelostbird.htm
Bet you guys didn't know they had a union, better not eat him next thing you know they will be picketing your place /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

They have a listing of their clubs and bands on their web site. I use to fly them in high school back in the 60's.
And those that didn't fly fast wound up at the dinner table and not as a guest, /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif and they are right tasty. And Racers eat quality grain and are nothing like those flying rats you see eating anything they can scavenge in the city.
Insulted his palate by offering him bread that's why he bit you.

After he is all stuffed with the above mentioned ingredents then bake at 400 for 45 min and baste 3 times. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I used to raise and eat them quite tasty little suab (spelling?) though we ate them as much as a nessety as for fun though I even remember liking them better than the yard birds (aka chicken) not as much MEAT but hey they were pretty much free as we hunted & caught them at the local equity and then domesticated them as pets (kept the pretty ones and tamed them pretty well . made em a home and all they attracted the wild ones which was then made to order /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks. Apparently this guy is not in any hurry to leave. He is still here. The next time he comes down from crapping on my roof to eat, I'll write down the numbers on his bands. Gees, I don't think I've ever seen an animal that size crap as much as he/she does!

This is a homing pigeon that got lost during traing flight or race... If you want to help it, feed a corn, rye, wheat etc.(the pigeons are seed eaters).. When you have a chance capture it and read the band it may look like this "IF 04 ECC 0584" That means International Federation, 04 Year the bird was born-(2004) Effinghan County Club (in this case my county club in Georgia) 0584- band serial number(it will tell who the bird owner is). So after you capture it and read the band, either call a local pigeon racing club and ask for assistance, look it up on the net If-..., AU-American Pigeon Union or quit feeding it will leave on it's own when get stronger and confidant to continue.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
