Assuming all goes according to Hoyle, soon we will be adding 2.65 acres of horse pasture to the 3 acres we already have. This 2.65 acres is not fenced in so this will be one of my first jobs after we settle.

We presently have a 10 year old Work Horse garden tractor and I am looking to buy a 'real' tractor. I was considering the BX2200 with FEL, 60" MMM, and a box scraper. I was also thinking about buying a post hole digger to speed up the fencing project.

I havn't seen the deed to the 2.65 acres but accoring to my computations it'll take about 170 posts, hence the idea to buy a PHD.

Comments/suggestions about the BX2200 as configured would be most welcomed.

BTW, the 2.65 acres is in corn right now and the farmer used herbicides to kill the grasses before planting corn (I know because some of it ran onto my backyard, killing the lawn). Is there anything I need to be concerned about? A local farmer (we buy our hay from them) offered to plow, disk and plant the field for us.

Thanks,
Mike

Hmmm,

Had lots of discussion re: Post Hole Diggers for the BX2200 ... several people have the WorkSaver 300. I postponed my purchase until Spring 2002 because of the uncertainty of the economy (truth be told I didn't get to the fence this Summer and don't want to look at a PHD in the garage all winter!), but here are the links I saved:

1. BX2200 w/ Post Hole Digger

2. BX and Post hole digger

3. BX2200 and Post Hole Auger

4. Couple of questions on the BX Series

5. re BX2200 vs B-series - read down a bit - long thread.

Here's a picture as evidence from one of the threads ...

Hope this helps,

I've never seen one, but followed a thread a while back on a hydraulic post DRIVER. You don't dig the holes, just drive them in. If it's mostly fence posts, you may want to consider one. If you're thinking of something larger (like setting posts for a pole barn) then you'll need the auger.

Maybe you should consider a power-trac
PT425 tractor, 4 wheel drive, articulating, 25hp with canopy
Bar tires that don't leave marks in your grass
60" mowing deck
Rotary cutter (brush hog)
Post hold digger
Bucket with teeth
Box blade
Snow plow with power angle
48" tiller
$13,100 Total!
It's not diesel but it is made in America, at a time when that should mean something.

Good luck PTRich
