I was guessing maybe the same about the blue laws...they all need to go IMO. The county I live in- stores can't open until 1:30PM on Sunday..so if I'm working on a project or have a home emergency, like a plumbing problem- and I need something from say Lowes or Home Depot I have to go to the next county to get it on a Sunday morning....just plain stupid:cool:
I remember being dumbfounded back in the late 60's when I moved here and I bought a half gallon of ice cream on a Sunday in a grocery store but they wouldn't sell me a scoop to get it out, it was illegal to buy a scoop on Sunday!

I guess someone thought wide load drivers need to be in church on Sunday too:laughing:

I live in Lexington County...astonishingly the voters here have shot down the blue law removal last time it was up for vote.

Maybe he is farm exempt or something.
There are no exemptions for something that can be hauled within legal width limits if properly positioned. Ag or otherwise.

Can you imagine if some of these wide combine heads were not moved on a trailer?

You probably won't believe it, but I'm going to post it anyway. About a year-and-a-half ago, I'm driving home from work. A nice, long country drive. Kind of hilly and narrow shoulders. Typical country road.

About half-way home I get behind some folks pulling a mobile home. Not all that dramatic, typically.

But pulling this house are four cars and trucks all chained together in a line...a late 80's or early 90's model Ford F150, a 90's model Ford Taurus, a Chevy Cavalier, and some car I wasn't quite sure what it might have been under all the bondo and multiple paint colors, but looked to be similar to an early 2000's Ford Fiesta.

I have no idea how far they had made it by the time I caught up to them, but about a mile-and-a-half after I got behind them the Taurus starts billowing smoke while they're trying to get up a hill, and the whole procession comes to a halt.
I was outside working one morning when I heard a tractor driving by. I looked up to see one of my neighbors pulling a pretty good sized house trailer. Guess he must have made it because a few hours later he came back through.

Remember that incident here in KY with the trailer that the sheriff had pushed off the road thereby destroying it? Guess you are good to go as long as you don't hold nobody up, lol!

I hadn't heard of that one, so I Googled it.

Wow. Sorry I did. The article I read plays out every "Kentucky hick" stereotype ever spun. It reads like one of those stories where a tornado rips through a neighborhood, and they find "that guy" to interview.

I do feel sorry for the folks involved. But, wow.

A few years ago, we were driving up Hwy 97 in Oregon, and came up on a guy towing a Jeep on a 16-18 ft trailer. The catch was the Jeep body was sideways on the front of the trailer and the frame and running gear were long ways behind it. He was using a Ford Ranger to pull it, and even on the flat he was only managing about 40 mph.
