What the....wide load

I think they should make a tv show with redneck truckers, there is alot more drama on rural roads with people that move mobile homes than the oversize stuff on Ice roads.

Remember, things like that are usually preceeded by "Watch this".

I agree. They could make the first episode with me and my buddies. We move a 16' wide by 68' long houseboat a few years back nearly 25 miles with a flat bed semi trailer on a dolly pulled by a big New Holland Tractor. Took 4 hours. Did it on a Sunday morning in the spring. Started out at 5 am and took all the back roads.

This summer we moved a 4 year old 24'x30' deck on my 18' car haul trailer about 1 mile. It was going to be destroyed because of a home addition and my friend wanted it. We cut it down the middle with a chain saw then cut out all the center supports. We then backed the trailer under it supported by 4 55 gallon drums and used jacks and my FEL to support the deck while we cut the supports out from under it with a chain saw. Moved it down the road behind my Ford 861 Power Master to a friends home. We had previously made a frame with 20 4x4 post set and 2x12 supports. We then just backed up the the trailer and used my FEL to pull on corner up on the frame we had built. Followed by the second corner then used 2 come-a-longs and my tractor to push into position. Took us 2 days. First day was spent cutting out all the shrubs and stuff around it and taking down a fence. Next day was spent moving it.

I have pulled a MH with my 06 F-350 and while they are not terribly heavy, about 14,000#, they sure are big.

What really amazes me about your story is the F-150 had the guts to handle the tongue weight.

As for the F 150, it had certainly seen better days. I'd be surprised if it was "firing on all cylinders", so-to-speak. For that matter, I doubt the drivers were operating an all cylinders, either. :D

No, no, no. Its "Hold my BEER and Watch This!"

What color is your F-350, and were you in KY a year-and-a-half ago? Maybe what I thought was a 150 was a 350...;)

My buddy and I once moved a deck It wasnt all that big maybe 20 x16 first we pulled it off the house, and then chainsawed a hole in one end ran a chain through it. and hooked to the truck. He then drove it down the road about a mile. I was on top of it for safely lol .Amasingly it didnt tear up very much. Then jacked it up and attached it to a house..

Its Blue and Tan 06 with a diesel. I am down your way all the time. We make multiple trips to Dale Hollow, Lake Cumberland, and Lake Norris.

Never been to Norris. Been to Dale Hollow a couple of times, and Cumberland probably 100 times or more. Beautiful area. Lots of good fishing. Used to catch lots of striper, walleye, and smallmouths. Haven't been there for a good ten years or so, though. :(

That would be entirely at odds here in SC! No wide loads before 30 mins after sunrise or after 30 mins before sunset, and backroads are out in a lot of cases- they have designated routes for the oversize stuff that needs a permit.
But here is the big puzzle - no wide loads may be moved on SUNDAY.
Not sure why that is...looks to me like a weekend would be better to not holdup commuter traffic:confused:

I was only a chase vehicle for part of that trip. It was my friends sons boat. I am sure about every rule was broken or stretched on that one but around here its a get it done type attitude.

Just speculation on my part, but it may be a remnant Blue Law.
