My first impression of this format is not good but I will admit, it may be due to this being the same format as the political forum uses so that may be the reason for my negative impression. I will give it a try as long as they keep the school yard drama queens out.

Visually, this update is a big bummer. It is hurting my eyes and I get way less information on the page vs before. Like when clicking today's posts to see the most active threads.... there's far fewer displayed on a page.
Functionally, it seems about the same.

Picture function both uploading and viewing is muchly better

You're no longer brought to the last viewed page of the thread, though... you have to click the last page number and work backwards. I hope that feature returns.

As has been explained a few times, that will work itself out as you read threads. The placeholders could not be imported, so they're reset to nothing. Once you read a thread or mark a thread or forum as read, the placeholder is reset and you'll go to that point in the future.

I’m in the camp of came back and it was all new (gone?). All my subscriptions are gone, is there a way to get them back other than subscribing manually?

Mine all carried over. No issue there. Check your settings to make sure you auto-subscribe when posting to a thread.

One thing I find disconcerting IS I now have to use browser back button(arrow) to stay within my "watched" posts, If I try to use the "Forum" back button at bottom of page I get whole forum which then forces me back to the "watched" drop down....

One thing I really need help on is HOW DO I ACCESS all my graphics (gallery) I uploaded.. When I try to import a graphic it takes me back to my computers desk top ( which is ok but not what I want)...

Yep. Not a fan.
Just logged in since the update, and not impressed.
A quick few issues I see:
-Cannot seem to find a way to set how many posts per page
-Does not take you to the last viewed page/post in a thread
-Too much space is taken up by the profile on the left
I'm sure there is more. Been on here 30 seconds and I'm not too happy with it. Why cant we get the best both worlds. I like the look and feel with the old blue borders and whatnot. Bring back, if possible, some of the old features .

This is why I am an Apple guy. Every time Microsoft rolls out a new version of Windows, EVERYTHING looks and works differently. It’s like learning to use the computer all over again. And the new look does NOT make it work better.

When Apple rolls out a New OS, everything stays the same except for the actual OS that makes things run better and support apps and such. You just keep working as you were with a more robust system.

This new Forum is killin’ me. It’ll be a while before I get used to this. But eventually, when I do get used to it, it will be time for another change. Arrrrrgh! ! !

I do not like this new format and think it is unfriendly and nasty. It sucks.

The new format doesn't seem to mark topics I've posted to in the list of topics within a forum. Is it possible to restore that feature?
