I don't know of anything that will work with only 15 hp. You can try Carver's website. They have some small hay equipment for lower hp units but I still don't think 15 hp would do it.

Maybe a motor run baler but probably still WAYYYYYY too little weight in the tractor to safely stop moving and baler may throw that tractor around quite a bit too. May be able to run a small sicklebar mower though. Just a thought. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Super 65 sickle bar mower $950, is designed specifically for your small tractor.

What would be a good size sickle bar/brand for a John Deere 4300 ? How much would it cost ?

That mini bailer is $10K+ You can buy a lot hay baled by someone else for $10k

Carvers 15-30 hp Baler )</font>

You can buy a used baler for $500-1000, invest $500 in parts.

You can buy a 35hp older tractor for $1500. Add $1000 for an overhaul.

Total investment, well under half of what that new baler costs. And you'll have normal sized bales, a 2nd tractor.

The little tractor will come in handy for raking the hay, maybe cutting hay. It's nice to have 2 tractors for haymaking, lot of swapping & changing implements...

A regular older baler requires about 15 hp to run the baler, & about 15 hp to tow it all around the field. Add 5 more hp to tow a wagon around behind.

More than hp, you need a HEAVY tractor to bale hay. the baler full of hay is pretty heavy, and the plunger going back & forth gives you quite a push/pull effect. Get to a hill, and that baler will shove a light tractor all over the place. CUT's just are designed for baling.

For $11,500 you can purchase a real baler, Vermeer 5400 Rebel. Find you an old 40 HP utility tractor and you'll be making 1200 LB bales. Likely you will be better purchasing a good mower and rake and have the hay custom baled square or round. It's hard to do any more that mow & rake with even a large CUT. Buy the way a Kubota 5030 is not a CUT. A CUT is a smaller frame tractor with 40 HP or less.
