could only garden naturally in Morristown, NJ in my back yard. We only had 1/3 acre there. Went to some of the indoor swims and one movie show in cold weather there with the TSN group.
Went to beaches in France, Oz and Sicily that were bare.
Got acreage here, and neighbors have natural areas that they never use or appear in. Hardly ever see anyone down below.
Folks up here don't mind.

Let me focus /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif we are on a thread about wheel weights /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif or is it on a wife on hood of tractor. Focus. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Weights are good. right?

I have both filled tires and a three point bucket. The bucket is filled with approx 250 pounds of broken up cement from one of my projects. With my 2200 configured that way I can either blow or plow snow without spinning a wheel.

For mowing I drop the weight and FEL.

"There is a non corroding liqiud out there for rear tire ballast but I do not know the name of it. Someone will chim in I am sure to help you out."

Its called "rimguard" slang is "beet juice" becuase it is made from a sugarbeet byproduct. It is not supposed to freeze or cuase any corrosion of the rims.

Ralph we have stuff here called Poison Ivy, you would love it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I used non-toxic (propylene glycol) auto antifreeze 50/50 mix in my B2910 rear tires. After much research, I decided this was the best way to go because the antifreeze has anti-corrosion additives that make it very unlikely to corrode the rims or valve stems, even after many years. Furthermore, if I do puncture a tire, its a mess, but the stuff eventually biodegrades and can't poison a dog or other creature.

It has added about 250 lbs to each R4 tire and made a big difference in traction.

FYI, an adapter for pumping fluid through the valve stems was about $18 and a couple day wait at my local Napa store.

RalphVa,
i made my own. from the hackers plan. i machined a plate
12 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, drilled the holes to
bolt to the wheel, drilled a 1 inch hole in the center, and
welded a 1 inch threaded rod. i used lift weights from walmart,
at about $10.00 each. i have 300 pounds, 150 on each side.
i could have made the rod longer, and added two more weights
on each side, but so far it has improved the traction, and
stability of the tractor, and i think it is fine like it is.
i think what the people are refering to is BEET JUICE, which is
what i understand some people use in their tractor tires.
good luck with your project.

Accordionman good for you. You made a set of weights and saved some bucks to boot. Do you have a picture of the set that we can see? I would like to see what a tractor that is pumping iron, looks like. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Here's what I use on my New Holland TC25D. Another TBNer, 5030, aka Daryl Davis, welded up the brackets. The R4 wheel for my tractor is a bit unusual in that it only has 3 accessory attachment holes. The New Holland Ag tire wheel has four holes, as do most others.

I bought four 50 pound weights at Dicks Sporting Goods, added in four 25 pound weights I already had, for a total of 150 pounds on each rear wheel, the maximum New Holland recommended. Made a huge difference in traction for plowing snow and made using the FEL much safer.

Mike that a real nice piece of work. It also makes better sense to me as you can quickly and easily add or subtract weight from your rear axle as the need dictates. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm curious though, since you do not use liquid ballast in the tires do you use any type of tire sealant to keep yourself from getting flat tires in the field?

Nope. I have not had a chance to use them in the field, since I put them on, after I brush hogged for the last time this fall. When I put the weights on, I increased the air pressure to near the top of the recommended range.
