Disclaimer: If you are an Amsoil Distributor do not reply or send me a PM. Been there/ done that and already killed a few for bugging the CRAP out of me :)

What oil do you use in your newer Cub? They say to use 10W30 for warm conditions. Can you use Rotella in these as I seem to always have some for some odd reason? ;)

I realize this is a touchy subject and leads to 'Chevy vs. Ford' replies but you guys seem like a good lot me and I can read thru B.S. ;)

I'm not a distributor, but I believe......
May the force be with you.

The Rotella T 10W/30 should work just fine in your mower. Personally I use a diesel rated engine oil in all my small gas engines and have for years. For that matter I even run a diesel rated oil in my cars and non diesel trucks.

Are TBN users emailing you directly trying to sell you stuff? If so report them to the moderators for misuse of the system.

It used to be common for them to flood oil posts with their nonsense. Just trying to spare you guys and me from that with a note forewarning them in the first place;). I'm a grizzled vet of many dirt bike forums for about 10 years now and have seen them do this.

Thanks for the replies. I may stick with Rotella.

If rotella is a synthetic, then the manual says you should wait until you have 50 hrs on it before you run synthetic. I believe it has to do with getting everything in the engine broke in properly. From what I hear, you need the added friction that dino oil gives you for the first 50 hours. I read stories where people used a synthetic oil in their tractor before the
'break in" period was over and had problems with the engine burning oil afterwards.

Just food for thought.

As I said at MTF I never understand why people refuse to use an oil specifically formulated for small engines.

I have used Valvoline 10w30 since I have owned my Cub. Works just fine!

Valvoline used to make "DuraBlend" or something like that. That might be a good oil.
