What oil to fuel ratio are you using?

My chainsaw calls for 50:1, I run 45:1

now I know the debate will comes in so mine as well say it... although a richer oil to fuel mix will deliver more oil to the engine it will cause a leaner air to fuel ratio if the carbs is not adjusted in consequence (more air to fuel ratio then optimum that's because oil displace fuel) causing it to run hotter, I run high octane fuel to mediate that risk and my saw runs very well with that mix so that's what I run and I am comfortable with that. Essentially you can almost run as rich in oil as you want, as long as you adjust the air to fuel ratio.

my weed eater calls for 40:1
^^Exactly! A good way to think of it is only so many molecules can fit through a jet in a carburetor at a time. If you add extra oil molecules, less gasoline molecules will flow through.

I run everything 40:1. Dealers cant tell you different either due to epa law. ;)

But knowing a few dealers that are in the know. They will tell wink wink if they trust ya. They run their stuff 40:1 min.

Look for FD oil IMO too.

Always tune to your mix. AT or MT will do it for ya.

can you give pointer on tuning to your mix ? is there more then simply finding by feel the middle between the two extreme ? ''AT or MT will do it for ya'' what is that means ??

50:1 in all 2 strokes. Echo Red Armor oil and 89 octane ethanol free gas. Was using 90 ethanol free but lost access to that. Used Stihl ultra oil for several years but started having carbon buildup issues. Switched to Echo Red Armor oil and carbon issue disappeared.

I use the 2.5 gallon mix bottles of either Stihl, Husky, or Echo brand oil. Then add 2.25 gallons of ethanol free 91. So whatever that works out to.

Are you saying you dont tune any of your OPE? Man I tune everything even new stuff. Some of them out of wack from get go.

I'd be scared to tell if your dont have a clue on tuning stuff. I will post you a video from my chainsaw repair group someone posted for others. 339K views · 41K reactions | How to tune your chainsaw carburetor, tuning the high jet (H screw) #chainsaw #lumberjack #carburetor #homesteadlife #offgridlife #husqvarnachainsaw #woodsman #woodworkingskills | Chris Moran | chris_m_moran · Original audio

AT Autotune husky. MT is M-tronic stihl. They tune by themselves.

Amsoil 80:1 in everything, will never go back to 50:1.

I get the logistic, I have tune at least think I have like the idle and high speed jet if they are right out of whack but yeah I would find the two extreme and go somewhere in the middle and mostly do it by sound My saw was used and ran very well so I never touch it ... if its not perfect it's very close to be, I was looking for more of a scientific method... thanks for the video I will check if my saw 4 stroke or not and adjust accordingly but I think she dose although I might be sligtly lean.

been running AMSoil at the 100/1 like they say. Called the AMSoil chemist on a outboard that was 16/1 he said ANY 2 cycle = 100/1.
Been running this in every 2 cycle for years with no issue.
