I didn't see a reference to David Bowie's song, Suffragette City. That's the first place I heard that phrase. It's towards the end of the song at about 2:50.

I didn't see any reference to the obvious; an old joke, going around in the 50's. While by today's standards, it is corny beyond belief, but in those days, and if you're 15 years old, it was sorta funny:

Seems this stud rabbit was faced with a delimma. He was alone, with about 10 females, who all wanted serviced. So, his solution was to line them all up side by side where he could service one, and them move on rapidly to the next one. What he didn't know, was they all lined up next to a decorative stone yard rabbit. He began his chore, saying "Wham, Bam, thank you Maam", moved on to the next one, and "Wham Bam, thank you Maam", until he got to the stone rabbit, and it goes like "Wham Bam, OH!...... DAMM!"

Thats close to the one i heard only there were two male rabbits and the females were lined up and the males started from each end until they met in the middle and it was "Wham Bam Sorry Sam"
