I'm going to give my 2 cents and say if you hammer the shafts so they are straighter then the hooks will have a better bite, possibly after a few years of pulling logs the tension bent the arms and straightened the hooks somewhat. I also think that if you have two smaller logs like a fence anchor post you could flip it around and using your axe pound one arm into each post and drag them with your horse.Found this in the woods. I can see that it is for lifting something like an I-Beam maybe. It looks like it has a specific purpose. It was near a high tension power line ???? Someone knows what it is, Thanks
