Well, the hooks would go the other way if you pulled them around the ring.

You caught me. I thought of that afterwards and was hoping nobody would notice. Still needs a spreader though to be a decent hog hanger.

Probably for I beam. All you'd have to do is put it on the beam and then put a large shackle on and it slides down and keeps it tight. I've got an old digger derrick truck for digging power pole holes and setting the poles. In fact, I have two of those trucks. I have some old things like that I found in the tool boxes.

I don't know why I did not realize what that is. I was taught about that on my very first construction job right out of high school - never saw one but the boss kept talking about it. It is a sky hook. I was sent to fetch it a few times. Never found it though. It is supposed to be very useful.

Found this in the woods. I can see that it is for lifting something like an I-Beam maybe. It looks like it has a specific purpose. It was near a high tension power line ???? Someone knows what it is, Thanks

Straight shanks, flat tips and no pivot will not work on logs.

You are absolutely right - a barrel or an I-beam, something with a lip. They are plenty rugged. Here is a better pic

So many have said that it was for logs I brought it out into the woods today and tried it on a couple log. Useless, as I suspected. Even using a 3 lb hammer to set the hooks they would not stay set or try to bite in. You would go berserk before you got any logs out trying to use them to pull wood.

Looking at that picture agree that it was used for some type of drums, rather than logs.
